حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْحَسَنِ بْنِ أَتَشٍ حَدَّثَنَا جَعْفَرُ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ عَنْ هِشَامِ بْنِ حَسَّانَ عَنِ ابْنِ سِيرِينَ عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ قَالَ خَرَجَ عُمَرُ بْنُ الْخَطَّابِ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ يُرِيدُ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَأَتَى عَلَى عُطَارِدٍ رَجُلٍ مِنْ بَنِي تَمِيمٍ وَهُوَ يُقِ
يمُ حُلَّةً مِنْ حَرِيرٍ يَبِيعُهَا فَأَتَى عُمَرُ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقَالَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ رَأَيْتُ عُطَارِدًا يَبِيعُ حُلَّتَهُ فَاشْتَرِيهَا تَلْبَسْهَا إِذَا أَتَاكَ وُفُودُ النَّاسِ فَقَالَ إِنَّمَا يَلْبَسُ الْحَرِيرَ مَنْ لَا خَلَاقَ لَهُ

English Translation
It was narrated from Ibn 'Umar (رضي الله عنهما) — via Muhammad ibn al-Hasan ibn Atash, from Ja'far ibn Sulayman, from Hisham ibn Hassan, from Ibn Sirin — that 'Umar ibn al-Khattab (رضي الله عنه) set out intending to visit the Prophet ﷺ and came upon 'Utarid, a man from Banu Tamim, who was displaying a silk garment [hulla] for sale. 'Umar went to the Prophet ﷺ and said: 'O Messenger of Allah, I saw 'Utarid selling his silk garment — buy it to wear when delegations come to you.' He said: 'Silk is only worn by one who has no share [in the Hereafter].'
