English Translation
It was narrated from Ibn 'Umar (رضي الله عنهما) — via Muhammad ibn Ja'far, from Shu'ba, from Yazid ibn Abi Ziyad, from Ibn Abi Layla — that he said: 'We were on a raiding party [sariyya] and fled. We then intended to board a ship. We came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and said: "O Messenger of Allah, we are the fleers [al-farrarun]!" He said: "No — rather you are — or: you are — al-'akkarun [those who regroup to re-engage the enemy]."'
