حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ عَنْ مَنْصُورٍ عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ عُبَيْدَةَ قَالَ كُنْتُ عِنْدَ ابْنِ عُمَرَ فَقُمْتُ وَتَرَكْتُ رَجُلًا عِنْدَهُ مِنْ كِنْدَةَ فَأَتَيْتُ سَعِيدَ بْنَ الْمُسَيَّبِ قَالَ فَجَاءَ الْكِ
نْدِيُّ فَزِعًا فَقَالَ جَاءَ ابْنَ عُمَرَ رَجُلٌ فَقَالَ أَحْلِفُ بِالْكَعْبَةِ فَقَالَ لَا وَلَكِنْ احْلِفْ بِرَبِّ الْكَعْبَةِ فَإِنَّ عُمَرَ كَانَ يَحْلِفُ بِأَبِيهِ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ لَا تَحْلِفْ بِأَبِيكَ فَإِنَّهُ مَنْ حَلَفَ بِغَيْرِ اللَّهِ فَقَدْ أَشْرَكَ

English Translation
It was narrated from Ibn 'Umar (رضي الله عنهما) — via Muhammad ibn Ja'far, from Shu'ba, from Mansur, from Sa'id ibn 'Ubayda — that he said: 'I was with Ibn 'Umar, then I rose and left a man from Kinda with him. I went to Sa'id ibn al-Musayyib. The Kindi man came in a hurry and said: "A man came to Ibn 'Umar and said: 'I swear by the Ka'ba.' He said: 'No — rather swear by the Lord of the Ka'ba. For 'Umar used to swear by his father and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "Do not swear by your father — for whoever swears by other than Allah has committed shirk."'"'
