حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ آدَمَ حَدَّثَنَا زُهَيْرٌ حَدَّثَنَا مُوسَى بْنُ عُقْبَةَ أَخْبَرَنِي سَالِمُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ ابْنَ عُمَرَ يُحَدِّثُ عَنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَنَّهُ لَقِيَ زَيْدَ بْنَ عَمْرِو بْنِ نُفَيْلٍ بِأَسْفَلِ بَلْدَحَ وَذَلِك
َ قَبْلَ أَنْ يَنْزِلَ عَلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ الْوَحْيُ فَقَدَّمَ إِلَيْهِ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ سُفْرَةً فِيهَا لَحْمٌ فَأَبَى أَنْ يَأْكُلَ مِنْهُ وَقَالَ إِنِّي لَا آكُلُ مِمَّا تَذْبَحُونَ عَلَى أَنْصَابِكُمْ وَلَا آكُلُ مِمَّا لَمْ يُذْكَرْ اسْمُ اللَّهِ عَلَيْهِ

English Translation
It was narrated from 'Abdullah ibn 'Umar (رضي الله عنهما) — via Yahya ibn Adam, from Zuhayr, from Musa ibn 'Uqba, from Salim ibn 'Abdullah — that he heard Ibn 'Umar narrate from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ that he met Zayd ibn 'Amr ibn Nufayl at the lower part of Baldah — before revelation had come down to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. the Messenger of Allah ﷺ presented to him a sufra [cloth spread with food] that contained meat. He refused to eat from it and said: 'I do not eat from what you slaughter upon your idols, and I do not eat from what the name of Allah has not been mentioned over.'
