It was narrated from Ibn 'Umar (رضي الله عنهما) — via Hajjaj, from Sharik, from al-Hurr ibn al-Sayyah — that he heard Ibn 'Umar say: 'the Prophet ﷺ used to fast three days each month: Thursday at the beginning of the month, then the Monday following it, then the Monday following that.'
