Hadith #452
Arabic Text
حَدَّثَنَا يُونُسُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ حَدَّثَنَا الْحَارِثِ بْنُ عُبَيْدٍ حَدَّثَنَا بِشْرُ بْنُ حَرْبٍ قَالَ سَأَلْتُ عَبْدَ اللَّهِ بْنَ عُمَرَ
قَالَ قُلْتُ مَا تَقُولُ فِي الصَّوْمِ فِي السَّفَرِ قَالَ تَأْخُذُ إِنْ حَدَّثْتُكَ قُلْتُ نَعَمْ قَالَ إِنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِذَا خَرَجَ مِنْ هَذِهِ الْمَدِينَةِ قَصَرَ الصَّلَاةَ وَلَمْ يَصُمْ حَتَّى يَرْجِعَ إِلَيْهَا

English Translation
Yunus ibn Muhammad narrated to us, al-Harith ibn 'Ubayd narrated to us, Bishr ibn Harb narrated to us who said: 'I asked Abdullah ibn 'Umar (رضي الله عنهما): "What do you say about fasting during travel?" He said: "Would you accept it if I narrate to you?" I said: "Yes." He said: "the Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to fast and break his fast during travel."'
