English Translation

It was narrated from Ibn 'Umar (رضي الله عنهما) — via 'Affan, from Abu 'Awana, from Abu Bishr, from Nafi' — that the Prophet ﷺ had a gold ring and would place its stone toward the inside of his palm. One day he threw it away, and the people threw their rings away. Then he made a ring of silver with which he would seal [letters], but he would not wear it.
