English Translation
It was narrated from Ibn 'Umar (رضي الله عنهما) — via Muhammad ibn 'Abd al-Rahman, from Ayyub, from Nafi' — that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ saw phlegm [nukhama] in the direction of the qibla inside the mosque and scraped it off with his hand. He then turned to the people and was angered at them. He said: 'Indeed Allah (تعالى) is in front of each of you during your prayer — so let none of you spit in the direction of his face during prayer.'
