English Translation
It was narrated from Ibn 'Umar (رضي الله عنهما) — via Ibn Numayr and Muhammad ibn 'Ubayd, from 'Ubayd Allah, from Nafi' — from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ: 'Whoever frees his share of a jointly-owned slave must free all of him if he has enough wealth to meet the price — he is assessed at a fair valuation and the co-owners are compensated from his wealth. If he has no wealth, then whatever portion of the slave was freed stands freed [and the rest remains as is].'
