حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ نُمَيْرٍ حَدَّثَنَا عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ عَنْ نَافِعٍ عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ قَالَ أَدْرَكَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّه
ُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عُمَرَ بْنَ الْخَطَّابِ وَهُوَ فِي رَكْبٍ وَهُوَ يَحْلِفُ بِأَبِيهِ فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَلَا إِنَّ اللَّهَ يَنْهَاكُمْ أَنْ تَحْلِفُوا بِآبَائِكُمْ فَلْيَحْلِفْ حَالِفٌ بِاللَّهِ أَوْ لِيَسْكُتْ

English Translation
Ibn Numayr narrated to us, 'Ubaydullah narrated to us, from Nafi', from Ibn 'Umar (رضي الله عنهما) who said: 'the Messenger of Allah ﷺ came upon 'Umar ibn al-Khattab (رضي الله عنه) while he was in a riding party and was swearing by his father. the Prophet ﷺ said: "Indeed Allah forbids you from swearing by your fathers. Whoever swears, let him swear by Allah or remain silent."'
