حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ نُمَيْرٍ حَدَّثَنَا عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ عَنْ نَافِعٍ عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَ

سَلَّمَ وَاصَلَ فِي رَمَضَانَ فَرَآهُ النَّاسُ فَنَهَاهُمْ فَقِيلَ لَهُ إِنَّكَ تُوَاصِلُ فَقَالَ إِنِّي لَسْتُ مِثْلَكُمْ إِنِّي أُطْعَمُ وَأُسْقَى

English Translation

Ibn Numayr narrated to us, 'Ubaydullah narrated to us, from Nafi', from Ibn 'Umar (رضي الله عنهما), that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ practiced continuous fasting [wisal] during Ramadan, and the people saw him and did the same. He prohibited them and they said: 'But you practice continuous fasting!' He said: 'I am not like you. I am fed and given drink [by my Lord].'
