English Translation

It was narrated from Ibn 'Umar (رضي الله عنهما) — via Surayj, from 'Abdullah, from Sa'id al-Maqburi — that he said: 'I sat with Ibn 'Umar while he had a man with him in private conversation. I joined them and he struck my chest with his hand and said: "Do you not know that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'When two people are engaged in private conversation, do not sit with them until you have asked their permission'?"'
