English Translation
It was narrated from Ibn 'Umar (رضي الله عنهما) — via 'Abdullah ibn al-Harith, from Dawud ibn Qays, from Nafi' — that a companion of his dismounted during a journey to perform the witr. Ibn 'Umar said: 'What is the matter with you — why don't you ride?' He said: 'I am performing the witr.' Ibn 'Umar said: 'Is the Messenger of Allah ﷺ not a good example for you?' [i.e., he performed witr while riding]
