English Translation
It was narrated from 'Abdullah ibn 'Amr ibn al-'As (رضي الله عنهما) — via Yazid, from Muhammad ibn Ishaq, from 'Amr ibn Shu'ayb, from his father, from his grandfather — that when the Messenger of Allah ﷺ entered Mecca in the year of the Conquest, he stood among the people to give a sermon and said: 'O people! Whatever alliances existed in the pre-Islamic era — Islam has only strengthened them. And there is no [new] alliance in Islam. The Muslims are one hand against whoever is other than them. Their blood-values are equal. The lowest among them [in station] may grant protection on their behalf, and the most distant of them returns it to those who stayed behind [i.e., expedition spoils are shared with those who remained]. A believer is not to be killed [in retaliation] for [killing] a disbeliever. The blood money of a disbeliever is half that of a Muslim. No jalaab [driving animals to the collector from afar] and no janab [bringing animals close to avoid the collector]. And their zakah is to be collected only in their own homelands.'
