English Translation

It was narrated from 'Abdullah ibn 'Amr (رضي الله عنهما) — via Yazid, from Nafi' ibn 'Umar, from Bishr ibn 'Asim ibn Sufyan, from his father — from the Prophet ﷺ, as far as Nafi' knew: 'Indeed Allah (عز وجل) despises the man who is overly eloquent — twisting his tongue around words as a cow twists its tongue [around grass].'
