English Translation

It was narrated from 'Abdullah ibn 'Amr (رضي الله عنهما) — via Yazid and 'Affan, from Hammad ibn Salama, from Thabit al-Bunani, from Shu'ayb ibn 'Abdullah ibn 'Amr, from his father — that he said: 'the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to me: "O 'Abdullah ibn 'Amr, how will you be when you remain among the dregs of people — those whose covenants and trusts have been corrupted, and who have become like this?" — and he interlaced his fingers. He said: "What do you command me, O Messenger of Allah?" He said: "Hold to what you know, leave what you disapprove of, attend to your own affairs, and leave the affairs of the common folk."'
