English Translation
It was narrated from 'Abdullah ibn 'Amr (رضي الله عنهما) — via Waki', from Sufyan, from Abu Ishaq, from 'Amr ibn Maymun — that he said: 'Nawf [al-Bakali] and I were with 'Abdullah ibn 'Amr, and 'Abdullah said: \"the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: \"There is no prayer that a man enters upon at its time but that the angels say after every prayer he does: \"O Allah, forgive him — O Allah, have mercy on him.\"\" Then he said: \"And the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: \"Indeed Allah (عز وجل) — when the sun sets — descends [in a manner befitting His majesty] to the lowest heaven and says: \"Is there a supplicant that I may answer him? Is there a seeker of forgiveness that I may forgive him? Is there a repentant one that I may accept his repentance?\" — until the sun rises. Then He says: \"Who will lend to the One who is neither in need nor unjust?\"\" And 'Abdullah said: \"And the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: \"La ilaha illa Allah\" outweighs all the heavens and the earth and whatever is in them — for if the heavens and the earth were placed on one side of the scale and \"La ilaha illa Allah\" on the other, \"La ilaha illa Allah\" would outweigh them.\"\" And he said: \"And the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: \"When your servant completes the evening prayer [Maghrib] and then sits awaiting the night prayer ['Isha'] — he is in a state of prayer until he prays it. And Allah (عز وجل) boasts of him to His angels and says: \"Look at My servant — he has completed an obligation and is now sitting awaiting another.\"\"'
