English Translation
It was narrated from 'Abdullah ibn 'Amr (رضي الله عنهما) — via Waki', from Sufyan, from Ma'mar, from 'Amr ibn Shu'ayb, from his father, from his grandfather — that the Prophet ﷺ was asked about the fara' [the first offspring of a she-camel, which used to be sacrificed in pre-Islamic times]. He said: 'The fara' is truth [haqq] — you may nurse [the offspring] until it becomes useful to your pilgrims [carrying their loads] or to your widows [as provision], then slaughter it and give it [in charity].' The narrator said: 'I think he also mentioned the destitute [al-masaakin].'
