حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ أَخْبَرَنَا سَعِيدُ بْنُ يَزِيدَ عَنْ أَبِي السَّمْحِ
عَنْ عِيسَى بْنِ هِلَالٍ الصَّدَفِيِّ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَمْرٍو قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ لَوْ أَنَّ رَصَاصَةً مِثْلَ هَذِهِ وَأَشَارَ إِلَى مِثْلِ جُمْجُمَةٍ أُرْسِلَتْ مِنْ السَّمَاءِ إِلَى الْأَرْضِ وَهِيَ مَسِيرَةُ خَمْسِ مِائَةِ سَنَةٍ لَبَلَغَتْ الْأَرْضَ قَبْلَ اللَّيْلِ وَلَوْ أَنَّهَا أُرْسِلَتْ مِنْ رَأْسِ السِّلْسِلَةِ لَسَارَتْ أَرْبَعِينَ خَرِيفًا اللَّيْلَ وَالنَّهَارَ قَبْلَ أَنْ تَبْلُغَ أَصْلَهَا أَوْ قَعْرَهَا حَدَّثَنَاه الْحَسَنُ بْنُ عِيسَى أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ الْمُبَارَكِ أَخْبَرَنَا سَعِيدُ بْنُ يَزِيدَ أَبُو شُجَاعٍ عَنْ أَبِي السَّمْحِ عَنْ عِيسَى بْنِ هِلَالٍ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَمْرٍو عَنْ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مِثْلَهُ

English Translation
It was narrated from 'Abdullah ibn 'Amr (رضي الله عنهما) — via 'Ali ibn Ishaq, from 'Abdullah, from Sa'id ibn Yazid, from Abu al-Samh, from 'Isa ibn Hilal al-Sadafi — that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'If a lead ball the size of this — and he gestured to something the size of a skull — were dropped from the sky to the earth, which is a journey of five hundred years, it would reach the earth before nightfall. And if it were dropped from the top of the chain [al-silsila — of Hell], it would travel forty autumns, night and day, before reaching its bottom or base.' [Also narrated via al-Hasan ibn 'Isa, from 'Abdullah ibn al-Mubarak, from Sa'id ibn Yazid Abu Shuja', from Abu al-Samh, from 'Isa ibn Hilal, from 'Abdullah ibn 'Amr, from the Prophet ﷺ — the same.]
