Arabic Text
حَدَّثَنَا بَهْزٌ حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ أَخْبَرَنِي يَعْلَى بْنُ عَطَاءٍ عَنْ أَبِيهِ قَالَ أَظُنُّهُ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَمْرٍو قَالَ شُعْبَةُ شَكَّ قَامَ رَجُلٌ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللّ
َهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَسْتَأْذِنُهُ فِي الْجِهَادِ فَقَالَ فَهَلْ لَكَ وَالِدَانِ قَالَ نَعَمْ قَالَ أُمِّي قَالَ انْطَلِقْ فَبِرَّهَا قَالَ فَانْطَلَقَ يَتَخَلَّلُ الرِّكَابَ

English Translation
It was narrated from 'Abdullah ibn 'Amr (رضي الله عنهما) — via Bahz, from Shu'ba, from Ya'la ibn 'Ata', from his father — [Shu'ba said: he was uncertain] 'I think from 'Abdullah ibn 'Amr' — that a man stood before the Messenger of Allah ﷺ seeking permission for jihad. He said: 'Do you have parents?' He said: 'Yes.' He said: 'Your mother?' He said: 'Go and serve her.' And he went off, weaving his way through the riding animals.
