Hadith #337

English Translation

It was narrated from 'Abdullah ibn 'Amr (رضي الله عنهما) — via 'Abd al-Razzaq, from Ma'mar, from Qatada, from Shahr ibn Hawshab — that he said: 'When the pledge of allegiance to Yazid ibn Mu'awiya reached us, I went to Syria and was informed of a gathering that Nawf [al-Bakali] was holding. I came to it — when a man arrived in a striped cloak and the people rushed to him — and it was 'Abdullah ibn 'Amr ibn al-'As. When Nawf saw him he stopped speaking. 'Abdullah said: "I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say: 'There will be emigration after emigration — people will migrate toward the place of emigration of Ibrahim [i.e., Syria]. None will remain in the earth except the worst of its people — their lands will spit them out, the soul [spirit] of Allah will loathe them, and the Fire will herd them together with the monkeys and pigs — spending the night with them when they spend the night, taking their midday rest with them when they do, and consuming whoever lags behind.'"'
