حَدَّثَنَا رَوْحٌ حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ أَخْبَرَنِي حُصَيْنٌ سَمِعْتُ مُجَاه
ِدًا يُحَدِّثُ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَمْرٍو قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ لِكُلِّ عَمَلٍ شِرَّةٌ وَلِكُلِّ شِرَّةٍ فَتْرَةٌ فَمَنْ كَانَتْ فَتْرَتُهُ إِلَى سُنَّتِي فَقَدْ أَفْلَحَ وَمَنْ كَانَتْ إِلَى غَيْرِ ذَلِكَ فَقَدْ هَلَكَ

English Translation
It was narrated from 'Abdullah ibn 'Amr (رضي الله عنهما) — via Rawh, from Shu'ba, from Husayn, who heard Mujahid narrating — that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'Every deed has its period of zeal [shirra], and every period of zeal has its period of lull and fatigue [fatra]. Whoever's period of lull inclines toward my Sunnah has succeeded; and whoever's period of lull inclines toward other than that has perished.'
