حَدَّثَنَا حُسَيْنُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ مُطَرِّفٍ عَنْ أَبِي حَازِمٍ عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ شُعَيْبٍ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ جَدِّهِ عَنْ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَنَّهُ قَالَ يَأْتِي عَلَى النَّاسِ زَمَانٌ يُغَرْبَلُونَ فِيهِ غَرْبَلَةً ي
َبْقَى مِنْهُمْ حُثَالَةٌ قَدْ مَرِجَتْ عُهُودُهُمْ وَأَمَانَاتُهُمْ وَاخْتَلَفُوا فَكَانُوا هَكَذَا وَشَبَّكَ بَيْنَ أَصَابِعِهِ قَالُوا يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ فَمَا الْمَخْرَجُ مِنْ ذَلِكَ قَالَ تَأْخُذُونَ مَا تَعْرِفُونَ وَتَدَعُونَ مَا تُنْكِرُونَ وَتُقْبِلُونَ عَلَى أَمْرِ خَاصَّتِكُمْ وَتَدَعُونَ أَمْرَ عَامَّتِكُمْ

English Translation
It was narrated from 'Abdullah ibn 'Amr (رضي الله عنهما) — via Husayn ibn Muhammad, from Muhammad ibn Mutarrif, from Abu Hazim, from 'Amr ibn Shu'ayb, from his father, from his grandfather — from the Prophet ﷺ: 'A time will come upon people when they will be sifted like a sieve — and what remains will be the dregs: their covenants and trusts have become muddled, and they have fallen into disagreement and become like this' — and he interlaced his fingers. They said: 'O Messenger of Allah, what is the way out of that?' He said: 'Take what you recognize [as right] and leave what you disapprove of. Turn your attention to your own private affairs and leave the affairs of the general public.'
