English Translation

It was narrated from 'Abdullah ibn 'Amr (رضي الله عنهما) — via Qutayba, from Ibn Lahi'a, from al-Harith ibn Yazid, from Jundub ibn 'Abdullah, from Sufyan ibn 'Awf — that he said: 'I was with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ when the sun rose. He said: "A people will come before Allah on the Day of Resurrection whose light is like the light of the sun." Abu Bakr said: "Are we they, O Messenger of Allah?" He said: "No — but you have abundant good. Rather, they are the poor [fuqara'] and the emigrants [muhajirun] who will be gathered from every corner of the earth." And he said: "Tuba [glad tidings] to the strangers! Tuba to the strangers! Tuba to the strangers!" It was said: "Who are the strangers, O Messenger of Allah?" He said: "Righteous people among vast numbers of evil people — those who disobey them are more than those who follow them."'
