English Translation
It was narrated from Abu Hurayra (رضي الله عنه) — via Sufyan, from Abu al-Zinad, from al-A'raj; and [also] via Ibn Jurayj, from al-Hasan ibn Muslim, from Tawus — from the Prophet ﷺ: 'The coat of armor [dir'] reached down fully [sabaghta] — or: flowed past him, covering his fingertips and concealing his tracks. He kept trying to widen it [yuwassi'uha].' Abu al-Zinad said: 'He would try to widen it, but it would not expand.' Ibn Jurayj said from al-Hasan ibn Muslim: 'And he could not widen it [wa la yatawaasa'].' [This refers to the coat of mail made by Dawud (عليه السلام), which was of miraculous completion.]
