الأعمش
English Translation
It was narrated from Abu Hurayra (رضي الله عنه) — via Abu Mu'awiya, from al-A'mash, from Abu Salih — that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'War spoils [ghana'im] were not lawful for any dark-headed people [people/humans] before you — fire would descend from the sky and consume them. On the day of Badr the people rushed to the spoils, and so Allah (عز وجل) revealed: {Were it not for a decree from Allah that had already gone forth, you would have been touched by a great punishment for what you took. So eat from what you have gained as spoils — lawful and good} [8:68-69].'
