English Translation

It was narrated from Abu Hurayra (رضي الله عنه) — via Abu Kamil, from Ibrahim ibn Sa'd, from Ibn Shihab [al-Zuhri], from Sa'id ibn al-Musayyab and Abu Salama ibn 'Abd al-Rahman — that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, when he wished to invoke a curse upon someone or supplicate for someone, would perform qunut after the ruku'. He would sometimes say — after saying "Sami'allahu liman hamidah, Rabbana wa lak al-hamd" — : 'O Allah, save al-Walid ibn al-Walid, Salama ibn Hisham, and 'Ayyash ibn Abi Rabi'a, and the oppressed among the believers. O Allah, tighten Your grip on Mudar and make it [their affliction] like the years of Yusuf.' He would say this out loud. And in some of his prayers — in the Fajr prayer — he would say: 'O Allah, curse so-and-so and so-and-so' — [invoking against] two tribes of the Arabs. Until Allah (عز وجل) revealed: {It is not for you [to decide] — whether He turns toward them in mercy or punishes them, for indeed they are wrongdoers} [3:128].
