Abd al-A'la narrated to us, from Ma'mar, from Muhammad ibn Ziyad, from Abu Hurayrah (رضي الله عنه), that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said — or Abu al-Qasim ﷺ said: 'By the One in Whose hand is my soul, one of you should not stand over his wife and slave and beat them like a slave is beaten, then perhaps lie with her at the end of the day.'
