مْرٍو عَنْ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ النَّاسُ مَعَادِنُ خِيَارُهُمْ فِي الْجَاهِلِيَّةِ خِيَارُهُمْ فِي الْإِسْلَامِ إِذَا فَقِهُوا

English Translation

It was narrated from Abu Hurayra (رضي الله عنه) — via 'Abdullah ibn Numayr, from Muhammad ibn 'Amr, from Abu Salama — that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'People are [like] veins of ore [ma'adin]. Those who were best among them in Jahiliyya are best among them in Islam — when they acquire understanding [fiqh].'
