English Translation
It was narrated from Abu Hurayra (رضي الله عنه) — via Abu Kamil, from Hammad, from Suhayl, from his father [Abu Salih] — that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'There is no owner of a treasure [hoarded gold or silver] who does not fulfill its due [pay its zakat] — except that it will be made into flat sheets, heated in the fire of Jahannam, and his forehead, side, and back will be branded with them — until Allah (عز وجل) passes judgment between His servants on a Day whose measure is fifty thousand years of what you count. Then he will see his path — either to Paradise or to the Fire. There is no owner of sheep who does not fulfill their due [zakat] — except that they will come on the Day of Resurrection at their fullest [most numerous]. He will be laid flat on a smooth level plain [qa' qarqar], and they will gore him with their horns and trample him with their hooves — none of them broken-horned ['aqsa'] nor polled [jalha']. Every time the last of them passes, the first is brought back against him — until Allah (عز وجل) passes judgment between His servants on a Day whose measure is fifty thousand years. Then he will see his path — either to Paradise or to the Fire. There is no owner of camels who does not fulfill their due — except that they will come on the Day of Resurrection at their fullest. He will be laid flat on a smooth level plain, and they will trample him with their soft feet [akhfaf]. Every time the last of them passes, the first is brought back — until Allah passes judgment between His servants on a Day whose measure is fifty thousand years. Then he will see his path — either to Paradise or to the Fire.' Then [the Prophet ﷺ] was asked about horses. He said: 'Good is tied to the forelocks [nawasiyha] of horses until the Day of Resurrection. For one man they are a reward, for another man a screen and adornment, and for [another] man they are a burden [wizr]. The one for whom they are a reward is a man who keeps them prepared for the path of Allah — whatever they swallow in their bellies is a reward for him; if they pass a river and drink from it, whatever they swallow is a reward for him; if they pass and eat something, whatever they eat is a reward for him; if they gallop on high ground, every step they take is a reward for him' — until he mentioned their dung and urine [as sources of reward]. 'The one for whom they are a screen and adornment is a man who keeps them for dignity and appearance and does not neglect the right of their bellies and backs [to be fed and ridden], in ease and hardship. The one for whom they are a burden is a man who keeps them out of arrogance, conceit, showing off, and pride.' Then he was asked about donkeys. He said: 'Nothing was revealed to me about them except one comprehensive, all-encompassing verse: {Whoever does an atom's weight of good will see it, and whoever does an atom's weight of evil will see it} [99:7-8].'
