English Translation

It was narrated from Abu Hurayra (رضي الله عنه) — via Abu Kamil, from Ibrahim, from Ibn Shihab, from al-Agharra and Abu Salama ibn 'Abd al-Rahman — that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'Our Lord (تبارك اسمه) descends every night, when the last third of the night remains, to the lowest heaven and says: "Who calls upon Me, that I may answer him? Who asks Me, that I may give him? Who seeks My forgiveness, that I may forgive him?" — until the dawn rises. That is why they [the Companions] used to prefer the prayer of the last part of the night over the prayer of the first part.'
