English Translation

It was narrated from Abu Hurayra (رضي الله عنه) — via 'Abd al-Razzaq, from Ma'mar, from al-Zuhri, from Abu Salama ibn 'Abd al-Rahman — that Abu Hurayra used to lead them in prayer, making takbir when he stood [for each rak'a], when he bowed, when he intended to prostrate after rising from ruku', when he intended to prostrate [again] after rising from sujud, when he sat, and when he intended to rise in the two rak'as — and likewise in the last two rak'as. When he gave salam he would say: 'By the One in Whose hand is my soul, I am the closest of you in resemblance to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ [in prayer] — this was his prayer until he left this world.' [Also via 'Abd al-A'la → Ma'mar → al-Zuhri → Abu Bakr ibn 'Abd al-Rahman ibn al-Harith ibn Hisham and Abu Salama ibn 'Abd al-Rahman: they prayed behind Abu Hurayra and mentioned the like. Also via 'Abd al-Razzaq → Ibn Jurayj → Ibn Shihab → Abu Bakr ibn 'Abd al-Rahman: he heard Abu Hurayra say: 'the Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to make takbir when he stood for prayer...' — and he mentioned the like.]
