Hadith #511

It was narrated from Abu Hurayra (رضي الله عنه) — via 'Abd al-Razzaq and Ibn Bakr → Ibn Jurayj → Ziyad → Thabit (mawla of 'Abd al-Rahman ibn Zayd) [Ibn Bakr said: he told him] — that he heard Abu Hurayra say — that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'When one of you is sleeping and then wakes up and wants to perform wudu, let him not put his hand into the vessel until he pours [water] over his hand — for he does not know where his hand spent the night.'
