English Translation

It was narrated from Abu Hurayra (رضي الله عنه) — via 'Abd al-Razzaq, from Dawud ibn Qays, from Abu Sa'id (mawla of 'Abdillah ibn 'Amir) — that he heard Abu Hurayra say: 'the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "Do not envy one another, do not engage in najash [artificial bidding to inflate prices], do not hate one another, do not turn your backs on one another [tadabur], and let none of you sell over his brother's sale [to undercut him]. Be servants of Allah, brothers! A Muslim is the brother of a Muslim — he does not wrong him, let him down, or look down on him. Taqwa [piety] is here" — and he pointed to his chest three times — "It is sufficient evil for a Muslim man to look down on his Muslim brother. Every Muslim's blood, wealth, and honor are inviolable to [another] Muslim."'
