Arabic Text
حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو مَعْشَرٍ عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْمَقْبُرِيِّ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ أَنَّ أَعْرَابِيًّا أَهْدَى إِلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بَك
ْرَةً فَعَوَّضَهُ سِتَّ بَكَرَاتٍ فَتَسَخَّطَهُ فَبَلَغَ ذَلِكَ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَحَمِدَ اللَّهَ وَأَثْنَى عَلَيْهِ ثُمَّ قَالَ إِنَّ فُلَانًا أَهْدَى إِلَيَّ نَاقَةً وَهِيَ نَاقَتِي أَعْرِفُهَا كَمَا أَعْرِفُ بَعْضَ أَهْلِي ذَهَبَتْ مِنِّي يَوْمَ زَغَابَاتٍ فَعَوَّضْتُهُ سِتَّ بَكَرَاتٍ فَظَلَّ سَاخِطًا لَقَدْ هَمَمْتُ أَنْ لَا أَقْبَلَ هَدِيَّةً إِلَّا مِنْ قُرَشِيٍّ أَوْ أَنْصَارِيٍّ أَوْ ثَقَفِيٍّ أَوْ دَوْسِيٍّ

English Translation
It was narrated from Abu Hurayra (رضي الله عنه) — via Yazid, from Abu Ma'shar, from Sa'id ibn Abi Sa'id al-Maqburi — that a Bedouin gifted a young she-camel to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, who gave him six young she-camels in return, but the Bedouin was displeased. When this reached the Prophet ﷺ, he praised Allah, then said: "So-and-so gifted me a she-camel, and it was my own she-camel — I recognize it as I recognize some of my family. It went missing from me on the day of Zaghabat. I gave him six young she-camels in return, yet he remained displeased. I have resolved not to accept a gift except from a Qurashi, an Ansari, a Thaqafi, or a Dawsi."
