‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ ‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏مَعْمَرٌ ‏ ‏عَنِ ‏ ‏الزُّهْرِيِّ ‏ ‏أَخْبَرَنِي ‏ ‏الْأَغَرُّ أَبُو عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ‏ ‏صَاحِبُ ‏ ‏أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ‏ ‏قَالَ ‏ ‏إِذَا كَانَ يَوْمُ الْجُمُعَةِ جَلَسَتْ الْمَلَائِكَةُ عَلَى أَبْوَابِ الْمَسْجِدِ يَكْتُبُونَ كُلَّ مَنْ جَاءَ إِلَى الْجُمُعَةِ فَإِذَا خَرَجَ الْإِمَامُ ‏ ‏طَوَتْ ‏ ‏الْمَلَائِكَةُ الصُّحُفَ وَدَخَلَتْ تَسْمَعُ الذِّكْرَ ‏

It was narrated from Abu Hurayra (رضي الله عنه) — via 'Abd al-Razzaq, from Ma'mar, from al-Zuhri, from al-Agharr Abu 'Abdillah (a companion of Abu Hurayra) — that Abu Hurayra said: 'On the day of Jumu'a [Friday], the angels sit at the gates of the mosque writing down everyone who comes to the Friday prayer. When the imam comes out, the angels fold up their scrolls and enter to listen to the dhikr [the sermon].'

‏ ‏قَالَ ‏ ‏وَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏الْمُهَجِّرُ ‏ ‏إِلَى الْجُمُعَةِ كَالْمُهْدِي ‏ ‏بَدَنَةً ‏ ‏ثُمَّ كَالْمُهْدِي بَقَرَةً ثُمَّ كَالْمُهْدِي شَاةً ثُمَّ كَالْمُهْدِي دَجَاجَةً ثُمَّ كَالْمُهْدِي ‏ ‏حَسِبْتُهُ قَالَ بَيْضَةً ‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏عَلِيُّ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ ‏ ‏أَخْبَرَنَا ‏ ‏عَبْدُ اللَّهِ ‏ ‏أَخْبَرَنَا ‏ ‏يُونُسُ ‏ ‏عَنِ ‏ ‏الزُّهْرِيِّ ‏ ‏قَالَ وَأَخْبَرَنِي ‏ ‏أَبُو عَبْدِ اللَّهِ الْأَغَرُّ ‏ ‏أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ ‏ ‏أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ ‏ ‏يَقُولُ ‏ ‏قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏إِذَا كَانَ يَوْمُ الْجُمُعَةِ كَانَ عَلَى كُلِّ بَابٍ فَذَكَرَهُ وَلَمْ يَشُكَّ فِي الْبَيْضَةِ ‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏يَزِيدُ ‏ ‏أَخْبَرَنِي ‏ ‏ابْنُ أَبِي ذِئْبٍ ‏ ‏عَنِ ‏ ‏الزُّهْرِيِّ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏أَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ الْأَغَرِّ ‏ ‏نَحْوَهُ ‏

He [Abu Hurayra] said: 'And the Prophet ﷺ said: "The one who comes early [al-muhajjir] to the Friday prayer is like the one who offers a camel [as sacrifice]. Then [the next is] like one who offers a cow, then like one who offers a sheep, then like one who offers a chicken, then like one who offers" — I [the narrator] think he said — "an egg."' [Also narrated via 'Ali ibn Ishaq → 'Abdillah → Yunus → al-Zuhri → Abu 'Abdillah al-Agharr → Abu Hurayra — without doubt about 'an egg.' Also narrated via Yazid → Ibn Abi Dhi'b → al-Zuhri → Abu 'Abdillah al-Agharr — similarly.]

‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ ‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏مَعْمَرٌ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ زِيَادٍ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ‏ ‏قَالَ ‏ ‏سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏وَهُوَ عَلَى الْمِنْبَرِ يَقُولُ ‏ ‏إِنَّ فِي الْجُمُعَةِ سَاعَةً وَأَشَارَ بِكَفِّهِ كَأَنَّهُ يُقَلِّلُهَا لَا ‏ ‏يُوَافِقُهَا ‏ ‏عَبْدٌ مُسْلِمٌ يَسْأَلُ اللَّهَ شَيْئًا إِلَّا أَعْطَاهُ إِيَّاهُ ‏

It was narrated from Abu Hurayra (رضي الله عنه) — via 'Abd al-Razzaq, from Ma'mar, from Muhammad ibn Ziyad — that he heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ while on the minbar say: 'In Friday there is an hour' — and he gestured with his palm as if to make it seem brief — 'no Muslim servant coincides with it while asking Allah for something except that He grants it to him.'

‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ ‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏مَعْمَرٌ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏يَحْيَى بْنِ أَبِي كَثِيرٍ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏رَجُلٍ يُقَالُ لَهُ ‏ ‏أَبُو إِسْحَاقَ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ‏ ‏قَالَ ‏ ‏قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏مَنْ غَسَّلَ مَيِّتًا فَلْيَغْتَسِلْ ‏

It was narrated from Abu Hurayra (رضي الله عنه) — via 'Abd al-Razzaq, from Ma'mar, from Yahya ibn Abi Kathir, from a man called Abu Ishaq — that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'Whoever washes a deceased person — let him perform ghusl [bathe himself].'

‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏يُونُسُ ‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏أَبَانُ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏يَحْيَى بْنِ أَبِي كَثِيرٍ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏رَجُلٍ ‏ ‏مِنْ ‏ ‏بَنِي لَيْثٍ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ ‏ ‏أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ ‏ ‏أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ ‏ ‏يَقُولُ ‏ ‏قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏مَنْ غَسَّلَ مَيِّتًا فَلْيَغْتَسِلْ ‏

It was narrated from Abu Hurayra (رضي الله عنه) — via Yunus, from Aban, from Yahya ibn Abi Kathir, from a man of Banu Layth, from Abu Ishaq — that he heard Abu Hurayra say: 'the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "Whoever washes a deceased person — let him perform ghusl."'

‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ ‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏مَعْمَرٌ ‏ ‏عَنِ ‏ ‏الزُّهْرِيِّ ‏ ‏عَنِ ‏ ‏ابْنِ الْمُسَيَّبِ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ‏ ‏قَالَ ‏ ‏لَا أَعْلَمُهُ إِلَّا رَفَعَ الْحَدِيثَ قَالَ ‏ ‏أَسْرِعُوا بِجَنَائِزِكُمْ فَإِنْ كَانَتْ صَالِحَةً عَجَّلْتُمُوهَا إِلَى الْخَيْرِ وَإِنْ كَانَتْ ‏ ‏طَالِحَةً ‏ ‏اسْتَرَحْتُمْ مِنْهَا وَوَضَعْتُمُوهَا عَنْ رِقَابِكُمْ ‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏عَلِيُّ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ ‏ ‏أَخْبَرَنَا ‏ ‏عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ الْمُبَارَكِ ‏ ‏أَخْبَرَنَا ‏ ‏ابْنُ أَبِي حَفْصَةَ ‏ ‏عَنِ ‏ ‏الزُّهْرِيِّ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏سَعِيدِ بْنِ الْمُسَيَّبِ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ‏ ‏قَالَ ‏ ‏قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏فَذَكَرَ مَعْنَاهُ ‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏عَبْد اللَّهِ ‏ ‏قَالَ ‏ ‏أَبِي ‏ ‏وَخَالَفَهُمَا ‏ ‏يُونُسُ ‏ ‏وَقَالَ حَدَّثَنِي ‏ ‏أَبُو أُمَامَةَ بْنُ سَهْلٍ ‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏عَلِيُّ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ ‏ ‏عَنِ ‏ ‏ابْنِ الْمُبَارَكِ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏يُونُسَ ‏ ‏عَنِ ‏ ‏الزُّهْرِيِّ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏أَبِي أُمَامَةَ ‏

It was narrated from Abu Hurayra (رضي الله عنه) — via 'Abd al-Razzaq, from Ma'mar, from al-Zuhri, from Ibn al-Musayyab — that he [Abu Hurayra] said (and I do not know of him except that he raised it [to the Prophet ﷺ]): 'Hasten with your funeral processions. If [the deceased] was righteous — you are hastening it to goodness. And if it was otherwise — you are relieving yourselves of it and removing it from your shoulders.' [Also narrated via 'Ali ibn Ishaq → Ibn al-Mubarak → Ibn Abi Hafsa → al-Zuhri → Sa'id ibn al-Musayyab → Abu Hurayra, explicitly attributed to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ — same meaning. Ahmad [ibn Hanbal] noted: Yunus differed and said 'Abu Umama ibn Sahl narrated it' instead of Ibn al-Musayyab.]

‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ ‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏مَعْمَرٌ ‏ ‏عَنِ ‏ ‏الزُّهْرِيِّ ‏ ‏عَنِ ‏ ‏ابْنِ الْمُسَيَّبِ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ‏ ‏قَالَ ‏ ‏قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏مَنْ صَلَّى عَلَى جَنَازَةٍ فَلَهُ ‏ ‏قِيرَاطٌ ‏ ‏وَمَنْ انْتَظَرَهَا حَتَّى تُوضَعَ فِي ‏ ‏اللَّحْدِ ‏ ‏فَلَهُ ‏ ‏قِيرَاطَانِ ‏ ‏وَالْقِيرَاطَانِ ‏ ‏مِثْلُ الْجَبَلَيْنِ الْعَظِيمَيْنِ ‏

It was narrated from Abu Hurayra (رضي الله عنه) — via 'Abd al-Razzaq, from Ma'mar, from al-Zuhri, from Ibn al-Musayyab — that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'Whoever prays the funeral prayer — he has one qirat [of reward]. And whoever waits until [the body] is placed in the lahd [grave niche] — he has two qirats. And two qirats are like two great mountains.'

‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ ‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏مَعْمَرٌ ‏ ‏عَنِ ‏ ‏الزُّهْرِيِّ ‏ ‏عَنِ ‏ ‏ابْنِ الْمُسَيَّبِ ‏ ‏وَأَبِي سَلَمَةَ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ‏ ‏قَالَ ‏ ‏نَعَى ‏ ‏رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏النَّجَاشِيَّ ‏ ‏لِأَصْحَابِهِ وَهُوَ ‏ ‏بِالْمَدِينَةِ ‏ ‏فَصَفُّوا خَلْفَهُ ‏ ‏وَصَلَّى عَلَيْهِ وَكَبَّرَ أَرْبَعًا ‏

It was narrated from Abu Hurayra (رضي الله عنه) — via 'Abd al-Razzaq, from Ma'mar, from al-Zuhri, from Ibn al-Musayyab and Abu Salama ibn 'Abd al-Rahman — that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ announced the death of al-Najashi [the Negus of Abyssinia] to his companions while he was in Madina. They lined up behind him, and he prayed the funeral prayer over him and said four takbirs.

‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ ‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏مَعْمَرٌ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏أَيُّوبَ ‏ ‏عَنِ ‏ ‏ابْنِ سِيرِينَ ‏ ‏أَنَّ ‏ ‏أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ ‏ ‏كَانَ يَسْجُدُ فِيهَا قَالَ ‏ ‏أَبُو هُرَيْرَةَ ‏ ‏وَرَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏يَسْجُدُ فِيهَا ‏ ‏يَعْنِي ‏ ‏إِذَا السَّمَاءُ انْشَقَّتْ ‏

It was narrated from Abu Hurayra (رضي الله عنه) — via 'Abd al-Razzaq, from Ma'mar, from Ayyub, from Ibn Sirin — that Abu Hurayra used to make sujud [prostration] in it [i.e., Surat al-Inshiqaq]. Abu Hurayra said: 'I saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ make sujud in it' — meaning [when reciting] {When the sky is split asunder} [84:1].

‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ ‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏مَعْمَرٌ ‏ ‏عَنِ ‏ ‏الزُّهْرِيِّ ‏ ‏عَنِ ‏ ‏ابْنِ الْمُسَيَّبِ ‏ ‏وَأَبِي سَلَمَةَ ‏ ‏أَوْ عَنْ أَحَدِهِمَا ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ‏ ‏قَالَ ‏ ‏قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏إِذَا رَأَيْتُمْ الْهِلَالَ فَصُومُوا وَإِذَا رَأَيْتُمُوهُ فَأَفْطِرُوا فَإِنْ ‏ ‏غُمَّ ‏ ‏عَلَيْكُمْ فَصُومُوا ثَلَاثِينَ يَوْمًا ‏

It was narrated from Abu Hurayra (رضي الله عنه) — via 'Abd al-Razzaq, from Ma'mar, from al-Zuhri, from Ibn al-Musayyab and Abu Salama — or from one of them — that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'When you see the new moon [of Ramadan] — fast. And when you see it [the new moon of Shawwal] — break the fast. And if it is obscured from you [by clouds] — then fast thirty days.'

‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ ‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏مَعْمَرٌ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏يَحْيَى بْنِ أَبِي كَثِيرٍ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏أَبِي سَلَمَةَ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ‏ ‏قَالَ ‏ ‏نَهَى رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏أَنْ يُتَعَجَّلَ شَهْرُ رَمَضَانَ بِصَوْمِ يَوْمٍ أَوْ يَوْمَيْنِ إِلَّا رَجُلٌ كَانَ يَصُومُ صِيَامًا ‏ ‏فَيَأْتِي ذَلِكَ عَلَى صِيَامِهِ ‏

It was narrated from Abu Hurayra (رضي الله عنه) — via 'Abd al-Razzaq, from Ma'mar, from Yahya ibn Abi Kathir, from Abu Salama — that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ prohibited anticipating the month of Ramadan by fasting a day or two [before it] — except for a man who was already fasting a regular fast [e.g., Monday/Thursday, alternate days] — and it [Ramadan] happens to fall on his [regular] fasting day.

‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ ‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏مَعْمَرٌ ‏ ‏عَنِ ‏ ‏الزُّهْرِيِّ ‏ ‏عَنِ ‏ ‏ابْنِ أَبِي أُنَيْسٍ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏أَبِيهِ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ‏ ‏قَالَ ‏ ‏قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏إِذَا دَخَلَ شَهْرُ رَمَضَانَ فُتِّحَتْ أَبْوَابُ الرَّحْمَةِ وَغُلِّقَتْ أَبْوَابُ جَهَنَّمَ وَسُلْسِلَتْ الشَّيَاطِينُ ‏

It was narrated from Abu Hurayra (رضي الله عنه) — via 'Abd al-Razzaq, from Ma'mar, from al-Zuhri, from Ibn Abi Unays, from his father — that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'When the month of Ramadan begins — the gates of mercy are opened, the gates of Jahannam are closed, and the devils are chained up.'

‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏يَعْقُوبُ ‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏أَبِي ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏صَالِحٍ ‏ ‏قَالَ ‏ ‏ابْنُ شِهَابٍ ‏ ‏حَدَّثَنِي ‏ ‏ابْنُ أَبِي أَنَسٍ ‏ ‏أَنَّ ‏ ‏أَبَاهُ ‏ ‏حَدَّثَهُ أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ ‏ ‏أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ ‏ ‏قَالَ ‏ ‏قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏إِذَا دَخَلَ رَمَضَانُ فُتِّحَتْ أَبْوَابُ الرَّحْمَةِ وَغُلِّقَتْ أَبْوَابُ جَهَنَّمَ وَسُلْسِلَتْ الشَّيَاطِينُ ‏ ‏قَالَ ‏ ‏أَبِي ‏ ‏و حَدَّثَنَاه ‏ ‏يَعْقُوبُ ‏ ‏حَدَّثَنِي ‏ ‏أَبِي ‏ ‏عَنِ ‏ ‏ابْنِ إِسْحَاقَ ‏ ‏قَالَ ‏ ‏ذُكِرَ ‏ ‏أَنَّ ‏ ‏ابْنَ شِهَابٍ ‏ ‏قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي ‏ ‏ابْنُ أَبِي أَنَسٍ ‏ ‏أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ ‏ ‏أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ ‏ ‏وَلَمْ يَقُلْ عَنْ أَبِيهِ ‏ ‏فَذَكَرَ الْحَدِيثَ ‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَاه ‏ ‏عَتَّابٌ ‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏عَبْدُ اللَّهِ ‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏يُونُسُ ‏ ‏عَنِ ‏ ‏الزُّهْرِيِّ ‏ ‏قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏ابْنُ أَبِي أَنَسٍ ‏ ‏فَذَكَرَهُ ‏

It was narrated from Abu Hurayra (رضي الله عنه) — via Ya'qub, from his father, from Salih — that Ibn Shihab [al-Zuhri] said: 'Ibn Abi Anas informed me that his father told him that he heard Abu Hurayra say: "the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'When Ramadan begins — the gates of mercy are opened, the gates of Jahannam are closed, and the devils are chained up.'"' [Also narrated via Ya'qub → his father → Ibn Ishaq from Ibn Shihab → Ibn Abi Anas who heard Abu Hurayra directly (without 'from his father'). Also via 'Attab → 'Abdillah → Yunus → al-Zuhri → Ibn Abi Anas — same hadith.]

‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ ‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏مَعْمَرٌ ‏ ‏عَنِ ‏ ‏الزُّهْرِيِّ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏عُرْوَةَ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏عَائِشَةَ ‏ ‏وَعَنِ ‏ ‏ابْنِ الْمُسَيَّبِ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ‏ ‏أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏كَانَ ‏ ‏يَعْتَكِفُ ‏ ‏الْعَشْرَ الْأَوَاخِرَ مِنْ رَمَضَانَ حَتَّى قَبَضَهُ اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ ‏

It was narrated from Abu Hurayra (رضي الله عنه) — via 'Abd al-Razzaq, from Ma'mar, from al-Zuhri, from 'Urwa [ibn al-Zubayr], from 'A'isha, and from Ibn al-Musayyab, from Abu Hurayra — that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to observe i'tikaf during the last ten [days] of Ramadan until Allah (عز وجل) took him [in death].

‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ ‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏مَعْمَرٌ ‏ ‏عَنِ ‏ ‏الزُّهْرِيِّ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏حُمَيْدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ عَوْفٍ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ‏ ‏أَنَّ ‏ ‏رَجُلًا ‏ ‏جَاءَ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏فَقَالَ هَلَكْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ قَالَ وَمَا ذَاكَ قَالَ ‏ ‏وَاقَعْتُ ‏ ‏أَهْلِي فِي رَمَضَانَ فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏أَتَجِدُ رَقَبَةً قَالَ لَا قَالَ أَتَسْتَطِيعُ أَنْ تَصُومَ شَهْرَيْنِ مُتَتَابِعَيْنِ قَالَ لَا يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ قَالَ أَفَلَا تُطْعِمُ سِتِّينَ مِسْكِينًا قَالَ لَا أَجِدُ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ قَالَ فَأُتِيَ النَّبِيُّ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏بِعَرْقٍ ‏ ‏وَالْعَرْقُ ‏ ‏الْمِكْتَلُ ‏ ‏فِيهِ تَمْرٌ قَالَ اذْهَبْ فَتَصَدَّقْ بِهَا فَقَالَ عَلَى أَفْقَرَ مِنِّي وَالَّذِي بَعَثَكَ بِالْحَقِّ مَا بَيْنَ ‏ ‏لَابَتَيْهَا ‏ ‏أَهْلُ بَيْتٍ أَحْوَجُ إِلَيْهِ مِنَّا فَضَحِكَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏ثُمَّ قَالَ اذْهَبْ بِهِ إِلَى أَهْلِكَ ‏

It was narrated from Abu Hurayra (رضي الله عنه) — via 'Abd al-Razzaq, from Ma'mar, from al-Zuhri, from Humayd ibn 'Abd al-Rahman ibn 'Awf — that a man came to the Prophet ﷺ and said: 'I am ruined, O Messenger of Allah!' He said: 'What happened?' He said: 'I had relations with my wife during Ramadan [while fasting].' the Prophet ﷺ said: 'Can you free a slave?' He said: 'No.' He said: 'Can you fast two consecutive months?' He said: 'No, O Messenger of Allah.' He said: 'Then can you feed sixty poor people?' He said: 'I cannot find [the means], O Messenger of Allah.' Then the Prophet ﷺ was brought a large basket ['araq — the 'araq is a large container] containing dates. He said: 'Go and give this in charity.' The man said: 'To someone poorer than me?! By the One who sent you with the truth — there is no household between the two lava fields [of Madina] more in need of it than mine!' the Messenger of Allah ﷺ laughed, then said: 'Go and take it to your family.'

‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ ‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏مَعْمَرٌ ‏ ‏عَنِ ‏ ‏الزُّهْرِيِّ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏أَبِي سَلَمَةَ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ‏ ‏قَالَ ‏ ‏قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏لَا ‏ ‏تُوَاصِلُوا ‏ ‏قَالُوا يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ إِنَّكَ ‏ ‏تُوَاصِلُ ‏ ‏قَالَ إِنِّي لَسْتُ مِثْلَكُمْ إِنِّي أَبِيتُ يُطْعِمُنِي رَبِّي وَيَسْقِينِي قَالَ فَلَمْ يَنْتَهُوا عَنْ ‏ ‏الْوِصَالِ ‏ ‏فَوَاصَلَ ‏ ‏بِهِمْ النَّبِيُّ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏يَوْمَيْنِ وَلَيْلَتَيْنِ ثُمَّ رَأَوْا الْهِلَالَ فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏لَوْ تَأَخَّرَ الْهِلَالُ لَزِدْتُكُمْ ‏ ‏كَالْمُنَكِّلِ ‏ ‏بِهِمْ ‏

It was narrated from Abu Hurayra (رضي الله عنه) — via 'Abd al-Razzaq, from Ma'mar, from al-Zuhri, from Abu Salama — that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'Do not practice wisal [fasting continuously without breaking the fast at night].' They said: 'But you practice wisal, O Messenger of Allah!' He said: 'I am not like you — I spend the night and my Lord feeds me and gives me to drink.' But they did not stop practicing wisal, so the Prophet ﷺ fasted continuously with them for two days and two nights. Then they saw the new moon, and the Prophet ﷺ said: 'Had the moon been delayed, I would have increased it for you' — as a deterrent to them.

‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏عَبْد اللَّهِ ‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏أَبِي ‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ ‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏مَعْمَرٌ ‏ ‏وَعَبْدُ الْأَعْلَى ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏مَعْمَرٍ ‏ ‏عَنِ ‏ ‏الزُّهْرِيِّ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏أَبِي سَلَمَةَ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ‏ ‏قَالَ ‏ ‏كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏يُرَغِّبُ فِي قِيَامِ رَمَضَانَ مِنْ غَيْرِ أَنْ يَأْمُرَهُمْ بِعَزِيمَةٍ فَيَقُولُ ‏ ‏مَنْ قَامَ رَمَضَانَ إِيمَانًا وَاحْتِسَابًا غُفِرَ لَهُ مَا تَقَدَّمَ مِنْ ذَنْبِهِ ‏

It was narrated from Abu Hurayra (رضي الله عنه) — via 'Abd al-Razzaq and 'Abd al-A'la, both from Ma'mar, from al-Zuhri, from Abu Salama — that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to encourage standing in prayer during Ramadan [qiyam al-layl] without commanding them firmly [i.e., not making it obligatory]. He would say: 'Whoever stands [in prayer] during Ramadan out of faith and seeking reward — his previous sins will be forgiven.'

‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ ‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏مَعْمَرٌ ‏ ‏وَعَبْدُ الْأَعْلَى ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏مَعْمَرٍ ‏ ‏عَنِ ‏ ‏الزُّهْرِيِّ ‏ ‏عَنِ ‏ ‏ابْنِ الْمُسَيَّبِ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ‏ ‏قَالَ ‏ ‏قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏قَالَ اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ ‏ ‏كُلُّ عَمَلِ ابْنِ ‏ ‏آدَمَ ‏ ‏لَهُ إِلَّا الصِّيَامَ الصِّيَامُ لِي وَأَنَا أَجْزِي بِهِ ‏ ‏وَلَخُلُوفُ ‏ ‏فَمِ الصَّائِمِ أَطْيَبُ عِنْدَ اللَّهِ مِنْ رِيحِ الْمِسْكِ ‏

It was narrated from Abu Hurayra (رضي الله عنه) — via 'Abd al-Razzaq and 'Abd al-A'la, from Ma'mar, from al-Zuhri, from Ibn al-Musayyab — that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'Allah (عز وجل) said: "Every deed of the son of Adam is for him — except fasting. Fasting is for Me, and I shall reward for it." And the breath [khuluf] of the fasting person's mouth is more pleasant to Allah than the fragrance of musk.'

‏ ‏قَالَ ‏ ‏الزُّهْرِيُّ ‏ ‏وَأَخْبَرَنِي ‏ ‏سَعِيدُ بْنُ الْمُسَيَّبِ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ‏ ‏قَالَ ‏ ‏قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏حِينَ ‏ ‏أُسْرِيَ ‏ ‏بِهِ لَقِيتُ ‏ ‏مُوسَى ‏ ‏عَلَيْهِ السَّلَام ‏ ‏فَنَعَتَهُ ‏ ‏قَالَ رَجُلٌ قَالَ حَسِبْتُهُ قَالَ ‏ ‏مُضْطَرِبٌ ‏ ‏رَجِلُ ‏ ‏الرَّأْسِ كَأَنَّهُ مِنْ رِجَالِ ‏ ‏شَنُوءَةَ ‏ ‏قَالَ وَلَقِيتُ ‏ ‏عِيسَى ‏ ‏عَلَيْهِ السَّلَام ‏ ‏فَنَعَتَهُ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏فَقَالَ رَبْعَةٌ أَحْمَرُ كَأَنَّهُ أُخْرِجَ مِنْ ‏ ‏دِيمَاسٍ ‏ ‏يَعْنِي حَمَّامًا ‏ ‏قَالَ وَرَأَيْتُ ‏ ‏إِبْرَاهِيمَ ‏ ‏عَلَيْهِ السَّلَام ‏ ‏فَأَنَا أَشْبَهُ وَلَدِهِ بِهِ قَالَ فَأُتِيتُ بِإِنَاءَيْنِ أَحَدُهُمَا فِيهِ لَبَنٌ وَفِي الْآخَرِ خَمْرٌ فَقَالَ لِي خُذْ أَيَّهُمَا شِئْتَ فَأَخَذْتُ اللَّبَنَ فَشَرِبْتُهُ فَقِيلَ لِي هُدِيتَ الْفِطْرَةَ وَأَصَبْتَ الْفِطْرَةَ أَمَا إِنَّكَ لَوْ أَخَذْتَ الْخَمْرَ غَوَتْ أُمَّتُكَ ‏

Al-Zuhri (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that 'Sa'id ibn al-Musayyab informed me, from Abu Hurayra, that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said — regarding the Night Journey [al-Isra']: "I met Musa (عليه السلام)" — and he described him — a man said [the narrator]: I think he said: "tall and lean, with straight hair, as if he were from the men of [the tribe of] Shanu'a." He said: "And I met 'Isa (عليه السلام)" — and he (ﷺ) described him — "of medium height, reddish, as if he had just come out of a dimas [a bathhouse — meaning his complexion was fresh and moist]." He said: "And I saw Ibrahim (عليه السلام) — and I am the most resembling of his children to him." He said: "Then I was brought two vessels — one containing milk and the other wine. It was said to me: 'Take whichever you wish.' So I took the milk and drank it. It was said to me: 'You have been guided to the fitra [natural disposition] and you have chosen the fitra. Had you taken the wine, your community would have gone astray.'"'

‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ ‏ ‏قَالَ سَمِعْتُ ‏ ‏هِشَامَ بْنَ حَسَّانَ ‏ ‏يُحَدِّثُ عَنْ ‏ ‏مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ سِيرِينَ ‏ ‏قَالَ ‏ ‏كُنْتُ عِنْدَ ‏ ‏أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ‏ ‏فَسَأَلَهُ رَجُلٌ عَنْ شَيْءٍ لَمْ أَدْرِ مَا هُوَ قَالَ فَقَالَ ‏ ‏أَبُو هُرَيْرَةَ ‏ ‏اللَّهُ أَكْبَرُ سَأَلَ عَنْهَا اثْنَانِ وَهَذَا الثَّالِثُ سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏يَقُولُ ‏ ‏إِنَّ رِجَالًا سَتَرْتَفِعُ بِهِمْ الْمَسْأَلَةُ حَتَّى يَقُولُوا اللَّهُ خَلَقَ الْخَلْقَ فَمَنْ خَلَقَهُ ‏

It was narrated from Abu Hurayra (رضي الله عنه) — via 'Abd al-Razzaq, from Hisham ibn Hassan, from Muhammad ibn Sirin — who said: 'I was with Abu Hurayra when a man asked him about something — I did not know what it was. Abu Hurayra said: "Allahu Akbar! Two people have already asked about this, and this is the third. I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say: 'Questioning will keep rising among men until they say: Allah created creation — but who created Him?'"'

‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ ‏ ‏أَخْبَرَنَا ‏ ‏مَعْمَرٌ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏سُهَيْلِ بْنِ أَبِي صَالِحٍ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏أَبِيهِ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ‏ ‏أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏قَالَ ‏ ‏وَيْلٌ ‏ ‏لِلْعَقِبِ ‏ ‏مِنْ النَّارِ ‏

It was narrated from Abu Hurayra (رضي الله عنه) — via 'Abd al-Razzaq, from Ma'mar, from Suhayl ibn Abi Salih, from his father — that the Prophet ﷺ said: 'Woe to the heels from the Fire!' [i.e., those who do not wash their heels properly during wudu]

‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ ‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏مَعْمَرٌ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏سُهَيْلِ بْنِ أَبِي صَالِحٍ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏أَبِيهِ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ‏ ‏عَنْ النَّبِيِّ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏قَالَ يَنْزِلُ رَبُّنَا عَزَّ وَجَلَّ كُلَّ لَيْلَةٍ إِذَا مَضَى ثُلُثُ اللَّيْلِ الْأَوَّلِ فَيَقُولُ ‏ ‏أَنَا الْمَلِكُ مَنْ ذَا الَّذِي يَسْأَلُنِي فَأُعْطِيَهُ مَنْ ذَا الَّذِي يَدْعُونِي فَأَسْتَجِيبَ لَهُ مَنْ ذَا الَّذِي يَسْتَغْفِرُنِي فَأَغْفِرَ لَهُ فَلَا يَزَالُ كَذَلِكَ إِلَى الْفَجْرِ ‏

It was narrated from Abu Hurayra (رضي الله عنه) — via 'Abd al-Razzaq, from Ma'mar, from Suhayl ibn Abi Salih, from his father — that the Prophet ﷺ said: 'Our Lord (عز وجل) descends every night when the first third of the night has passed and says: "I am the King. Who is calling upon Me so that I may answer him? Who is asking of Me so that I may give him? Who is seeking My forgiveness so that I may forgive him?" And He continues like that until Fajr.'

‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ ‏ ‏قَالَ ‏ ‏مَعْمَرٌ ‏ ‏عَنِ ‏ ‏الزُّهْرِيِّ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏أَبِي سَلَمَةَ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ‏ ‏عَنْ النَّبِيِّ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏قَالَ ‏ ‏إِنِّي لَأَسْتَغْفِرُ اللَّهَ فِي الْيَوْمِ أَكْثَرَ مِنْ سَبْعِينَ مَرَّةً وَأَتُوبُ إِلَيْهِ ‏

It was narrated from Abu Hurayra (رضي الله عنه) — via 'Abd al-Razzaq, from Ma'mar, from al-Zuhri, from Abu Salama — that the Prophet ﷺ said: 'I seek Allah's forgiveness more than seventy times a day and repent to Him.'

‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ ‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏سُفْيَانُ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏سَعْدِ بْنِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ ‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏عُمَرُ بْنُ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏أَبِيهِ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ‏ ‏قَالَ ‏ ‏قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏مَنْ أَتَى مِنْكُمْ الصَّلَاةَ فَلْيَأْتِهَا بِوَقَارٍ وَسَكِينَةٍ فَلْيُصَلِّ مَا أَدْرَكَ وَلْيَقْضِ مَا سَبَقَهُ ‏

It was narrated from Abu Hurayra (رضي الله عنه) — via 'Abd al-Razzaq, from Sufyan, from Sa'd ibn Ibrahim, from 'Umar ibn Abi Salama, from his father — that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'When one of you comes to the prayer, let him come with dignity and calmness. Let him pray whatever he catches [with the imam] and make up whatever he missed.'

‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ خَالِدٍ ‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏رَبَاحٌ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏عُمَرَ بْنِ حَبِيبٍ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏عَمْرِو بْنِ دِينَارٍ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏طَاوُسٍ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ‏ ‏أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏قَالَ ‏ ‏كُلُّ مَوْلُودٍ وُلِدَ عَلَى ‏ ‏الْفِطْرَةِ ‏ ‏فَأَبَوَاهُ يُهَوِّدَانِهِ وَيُنَصِّرَانِهِ مِثْلَ الْأَنْعَامِ ‏ ‏تُنْتَجُ ‏ ‏صِحَاحًا فَتُكْوَى آذَانُهَا ‏

It was narrated from Abu Hurayra (رضي الله عنه) — via Ibrahim ibn Khalid, from Rabah, from 'Umar ibn Habib, from 'Amr ibn Dinar, from Tawus — that the Prophet ﷺ said: 'Every child is born upon the fitra. Then his parents make him Jewish or Christian — like livestock that give birth to whole [unblemished] offspring, and then their ears are branded [by their owners].'

‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ خَالِدٍ ‏ ‏حَدَّثَنِي ‏ ‏رَبَاحٌ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏مَعْمَرٍ ‏ ‏عَنِ ‏ ‏الزُّهْرِيِّ ‏ ‏أَخْبَرَنِي ‏ ‏أَبُو سَلَمَةَ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ‏ ‏قَالَ ‏ ‏قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏سَتَكُونُ ‏ ‏فِتَنٌ ‏ ‏الْقَاعِدُ فِيهَا خَيْرٌ مِنْ الْقَائِمِ وَالْقَائِمُ خَيْرٌ مِنْ الْمَاشِي وَالْمَاشِي خَيْرٌ مِنْ السَّاعِي وَمَنْ وَجَدَ ‏ ‏مَلْجَأً ‏ ‏أَوْ ‏ ‏مَعَاذًا ‏ ‏فَلْيَعُذْ بِهِ ‏

It was narrated from Abu Hurayra (رضي الله عنه) — via Ibrahim ibn Khalid, from Rabah, from Ma'mar, from al-Zuhri, from Abu Salama ibn 'Abd al-Rahman — that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'There will be fitan [tribulations/civil strife]. The one sitting during them is better than the one standing; the one standing is better than the one walking; the one walking is better than the one rushing. Whoever finds a refuge or a sanctuary — let him take shelter in it.'

‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ ‏ ‏أَخْبَرَنَا ‏ ‏مَعْمَرٌ ‏ ‏عَنِ ‏ ‏الزُّهْرِيِّ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏أَبِي سَلَمَةَ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ‏ ‏قَالَ ‏ ‏تَكُونُ فِتْنَةٌ لَمْ رَفَعَهُ قَالَ ‏ ‏مَنْ وَجَدَ مَلْجَأً ‏ ‏أَوْ مَعَاذًا ‏ ‏فَلْيَعُذْ بِهِ ‏

It was narrated from Abu Hurayra (رضي الله عنه) — via 'Abd al-Razzaq, from Ma'mar, from al-Zuhri, from Abu Salama — that [Abu Hurayra] said: 'There will be fitna [tribulation]' — he did not raise it [to the Prophet ﷺ, i.e., it is a statement of Abu Hurayra himself] — 'Whoever finds a refuge or a sanctuary — let him take shelter in it.'

‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ خَالِدٍ ‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏رَبَاحٌ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏مَعْمَرٍ ‏ ‏عَنِ ‏ ‏ابْنِ طَاوُسٍ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏أَبِيهِ ‏ ‏عَنِ ‏ ‏ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ‏ ‏قَالَ مَنْ أَدْرَكَ مِنْ الْعَصْرِ رَكْعَةً قَبْلَ أَنْ تَغْرُبَ الشَّمْسُ فَقَدْ أَدْرَكَهَا ‏ ‏يُرْوَى ذَلِكَ عَنْ ‏ ‏ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ‏ ‏عَنْ النَّبِيِّ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏وَمَنْ أَدْرَكَ مِنْ الْفَجْرِ رَكْعَةً قَبْلَ أَنْ تَطْلُعَ الشَّمْسُ فَقَدْ أَدْرَكَهَا ‏

It was narrated from Abu Hurayra (رضي الله عنه) — via Ibrahim ibn Khalid, from Rabah, from Ma'mar, from Ibn Tawus, from his father, from Ibn 'Abbas — who said: 'Whoever catches one rak'a of 'Asr before the sun sets — he has caught it.' This is narrated from Ibn 'Abbas, from Abu Hurayra, from the Prophet ﷺ: 'And whoever catches one rak'a of Fajr before the sun rises — he has caught it.'

‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ خَالِدٍ ‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏رَبَاحٌ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏مَعْمَرٍ ‏ ‏عَنِ ‏ ‏الزُّهْرِيِّ ‏ ‏أَخْبَرَنِي ‏ ‏عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُتْبَةَ ‏ ‏أَنَّ ‏ ‏أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ ‏ ‏قَالَ ‏ ‏قَامَ أَعْرَابِيٌّ فَبَالَ فِي الْمَسْجِدِ فَتَنَاوَلَهُ النَّاسُ فَقَالَ لَهُمْ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏دَعُوهُ ‏ ‏فَأَهْرِيقُوا ‏ ‏عَلَى بَوْلِهِ سَجْلَ مَاءٍ ‏ ‏أَوْ ‏ ‏ذَنُوبًا ‏ ‏مِنْ مَاءٍ ‏ ‏فَإِنَّمَا بُعِثْتُمْ مُيَسِّرِينَ وَلَمْ تُبْعَثُوا مُعَسِّرِينَ ‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏هَارُونُ ‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏ابْنُ وَهْبٍ ‏ ‏أَخْبَرَنِي ‏ ‏يُونُسُ ‏ ‏عَنِ ‏ ‏ابْنِ شِهَابٍ ‏ ‏حَدَّثَنِي ‏ ‏عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ‏ ‏أَنَّ ‏ ‏أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ ‏ ‏أَخْبَرَهُ ‏ ‏أَنَّ أَعْرَابِيًّا بَالَ فِي الْمَسْجِدِ ‏ ‏فَذَكَرَ مَعْنَاهُ ‏

It was narrated from Abu Hurayra (رضي الله عنه) — via Ibrahim ibn Khalid, from Rabah, from Ma'mar, from al-Zuhri, from 'Ubaydullah ibn 'Abdillah ibn 'Utba — that Abu Hurayra said: 'A Bedouin stood up and urinated in the mosque. The people grabbed at him [to stop him], but the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to them: "Leave him! Pour a bucket of water — or a pail of water — over his urine. You were sent to make things easy, not to make things difficult."' [Also narrated via Harun → Ibn Wahb → Yunus → Ibn Shihab → 'Ubaydullah ibn 'Abdillah → Abu Hurayra — same meaning.]

‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ خَالِدٍ ‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏رَبَاحٌ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏مَعْمَرٍ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏يَحْيَى بْنِ أَبِي كَثِيرٍ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ‏ ‏عَنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏قَالَ ‏ ‏كُلُّ خُطْوَةٍ ‏ ‏يَخْطُوهَا إِلَى الصَّلَاةِ يُكْتَبُ لَهُ بِهَا حَسَنَةٌ ‏ ‏وَيُمْحَى عَنْهُ بِهَا سَيِّئَةٌ ‏

It was narrated from Abu Hurayra (رضي الله عنه) — via Ibrahim ibn Khalid, from Rabah, from Ma'mar, from Yahya ibn Abi Kathir, from Muhammad ibn 'Abd al-Rahman — that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'Every step a person takes toward the prayer — a good deed is written for him and a sin is erased from him.'

‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ خَالِدٍ ‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏رَبَاحٌ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏مَعْمَرٍ ‏ ‏عَنِ ‏ ‏الزُّهْرِيِّ ‏ ‏أَخْبَرَنِي ‏ ‏أَبُو سَلَمَةَ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ ‏ ‏أَنَّ ‏ ‏أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ ‏ ‏قَالَ ‏ ‏قَامَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏إِلَى الصَّلَاةِ وَقُمْنَا مَعَهُ فَقَالَ أَعْرَابِيٌّ وَهُوَ فِي الصَّلَاةِ اللَّهُمَّ ارْحَمْنِي ‏ ‏وَمُحَمَّدًا ‏ ‏وَلَا تَرْحَمْ مَعَنَا أَحَدًا فَلَمَّا سَلَّمَ النَّبِيُّ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏قَالَ لِلْأَعْرَابِيِّ ‏ ‏لَقَدْ ‏ ‏تَحَجَّرْتَ ‏ ‏وَاسِعًا يُرِيدُ رَحْمَةَ اللَّهِ ‏

It was narrated from Abu Hurayra (رضي الله عنه) — via Ibrahim ibn Khalid, from Rabah, from Ma'mar, from al-Zuhri, from Abu Salama ibn 'Abd al-Rahman — that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ stood for prayer and we stood with him. A Bedouin said while in prayer: 'O Allah, have mercy on me and Muhammad — and do not have mercy on anyone else with us!' When the Prophet ﷺ said the taslim [ended the prayer], he said to the Bedouin: 'You have constricted something vast' — meaning the mercy of Allah.

‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏إِبْرَاهِيمُ ‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏رَبَاحٌ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏مَعْمَرٍ ‏ ‏عَنِ ‏ ‏الزُّهْرِيِّ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏أَبِي سَلَمَةَ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ‏ ‏عَنْ النَّبِيِّ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏قَالَ إِنَّ ‏ ‏الشَّيْطَانَ يَأْتِي أَحَدَكُمْ فِي صَلَاتِهِ فَلَا يَدْرِي أَنْ زَادَ أَمْ نَقَصَ فَإِذَا وَجَدَ أَحَدُكُمْ ذَلِكَ فَلْيَسْجُدْ سَجْدَتَيْنِ ‏

It was narrated from Abu Hurayra (رضي الله عنه) — via Ibrahim, from Rabah, from Ma'mar, from al-Zuhri, from Abu Salama — that the Prophet ﷺ said: 'Satan comes to one of you during his prayer and confuses him so that he does not know whether he prayed more or less [rak'as]. When one of you finds that — let him prostrate two prostrations [sajdat al-sahw — the prostration of forgetfulness].'

‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ خَالِدٍ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏رَبَاحٍ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏مَعْمَرٍ ‏ ‏عَنِ ‏ ‏الزُّهْرِيِّ ‏ ‏قَالَ أَخْبَرَنِي ‏ ‏أَبُو سَلَمَةَ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ‏ ‏قَالَ ‏ ‏أُقِيمَتْ الصَّلَاةُ وَصَفَّ النَّاسُ صُفُوفَهُمْ لِلصَّلَاةِ وَخَرَجَ عَلَيْنَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏مِنْ بَيْتِهِ فَأَقْبَلَ يَمْشِي حَتَّى ‏ ‏قَامَ فِي مُصَلَّاهُ ثُمَّ ذَكَرَ أَنَّهُ لَمْ يَغْتَسِلْ فَقَالَ لِلنَّاسِ مَكَانَكُمْ فَرَجَعَ إِلَى بَيْتِهِ قَالَ فَخَرَجَ عَلَيْنَا وَنَحْنُ صُفُوفٌ فَقَامَ فِي الصَّلَاةِ ‏ ‏يَنْطُفُ ‏ ‏رَأْسَهُ قَدْ اغْتَسَلَ ‏

It was narrated from Abu Hurayra (رضي الله عنه) — via Ibrahim ibn Khalid, from Rabah, from Ma'mar, from al-Zuhri, from Abu Salama — that Abu Hurayra said: 'The prayer was called [iqama] and the people formed their rows. the Messenger of Allah ﷺ came out to us from his house and walked until he stood in his place of prayer. Then he remembered that he had not bathed [performed ghusl], so he said to the people: "Stay where you are." He went back to his house. Then he came out to us while we were [still] in our rows, and stood for the prayer — with his head dripping [water], having just bathed.'

‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ ‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏مَعْمَرٌ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏الزُّهْرِيِّ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ‏ ‏عَنْ النَّبِيِّ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏وَمُحَمَّدُ بْنُ زِيَادٍ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ‏ ‏أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏قَالَ ‏ ‏إِذَا أَتَى أَحَدَكُمْ خَادِمُهُ ‏ ‏بِطَعَامِهِ ‏ ‏فَقَدْ ‏ ‏وَلِيَ ‏ ‏حَرَّهُ ‏ ‏وَمَشَقَّتَهُ ‏ ‏وَدُخَانَهُ ‏ ‏وَمُؤْنَتَهُ ‏ ‏فَلْيُجْلِسْهُ مَعَهُ فَإِنْ أَبَى فَلْيُنَاوِلْهُ أُكْلَةً فِي يَدِهِ ‏

It was narrated from Abu Hurayra (رضي الله عنه) — via 'Abd al-Razzaq, from Ma'mar, from al-Zuhri, from Abu Hurayra (and from Muhammad ibn Ziyad, from Abu Hurayra) — that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'When one of your servants brings you your food — having endured its heat, its hardship, its smoke, and its labor — let him sit him down with him [to eat]. If he refuses [to share], then let him hand him a morsel [of food] in his hand.'

‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ ‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏مَعْمَرٌ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏رَجُلٍ ‏ ‏مِنْ ‏ ‏بَنِي غِفَارٍ ‏ ‏أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ ‏ ‏سَعِيدًا الْمَقْبُرِيَّ ‏ ‏يُحَدِّثُ عَنْ ‏ ‏أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ‏ ‏قَالَ ‏ ‏قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏الطَّاعِمُ الشَّاكِرُ كَالصَّائِمِ الصَّابِرِ ‏

It was narrated from Abu Hurayra (رضي الله عنه) — via 'Abd al-Razzaq, from Ma'mar, from a man of Banu Ghifar — who heard Sa'id al-Maqburi narrating from Abu Hurayra — that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'The one who eats and is grateful is like the one who fasts and is patient.'

‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ ‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏مَعْمَرٌ ‏ ‏عَنِ ‏ ‏ابْنِ أَبِي لَيْلَى ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏عَطَاءٍ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ‏ ‏قَالَ ‏ ‏دَعَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏بِالْبَرَكَةِ فِي السَّحُورِ ‏ ‏وَالثَّرِيدِ ‏

It was narrated from Abu Hurayra (رضي الله عنه) — via 'Abd al-Razzaq, from Ma'mar, from Ibn Abi Layla, from 'Ata' — that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ invoked blessings upon the sahur [pre-dawn meal] and al-tharid [a dish of bread soaked in broth].

‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ ‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏مَعْمَرٌ ‏ ‏عَنِ ‏ ‏الزُّهْرِيِّ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏رَجُلٍ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ‏ ‏قَالَ ‏ ‏قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏لَوْ يَعْلَمُ الَّذِي يَشْرَبُ وَهُوَ قَائِمٌ مَا فِي بَطْنِهِ ‏ ‏لَاسْتَقَاءَهُ ‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ ‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏مَعْمَرٌ ‏ ‏عَنِ ‏ ‏الْأَعْمَشِ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏أَبِي صَالِحٍ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ‏ ‏عَنْ النَّبِيِّ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏كَمِثْلِ حَدِيثِ ‏ ‏الزُّهْرِيِّ ‏

It was narrated from Abu Hurayra (رضي الله عنه) — via 'Abd al-Razzaq, from Ma'mar, from al-Zuhri, from a man — that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'If the one who drinks while standing knew what [harm] is in his stomach — he would vomit it up.' [Also narrated via 'Abd al-Razzaq → Ma'mar → al-A'mash → Abu Salih → Abu Hurayra → the Prophet ﷺ — same meaning as the hadith of al-Zuhri.]

‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ ‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏مَعْمَرٌ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏سُهَيْلِ بْنِ أَبِي صَالِحٍ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏أَبِيهِ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ‏ ‏قَالَ ‏ ‏قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏إِذَا قَامَ أَحَدُكُمْ مِنْ مَجْلِسِهِ ثُمَّ رَجَعَ إِلَيْهِ فَهُوَ أَحَقُّ بِهِ ‏

It was narrated from Abu Hurayra (رضي الله عنه) — via 'Abd al-Razzaq, from Ma'mar, from Suhayl ibn Abi Salih, from his father — that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "When one of you gets up from his seat and then returns to it, he has more right to it."

‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ ‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏مَعْمَرٌ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُمَرَ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏سَعِيدِ بْنِ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْمَقْبُرِيِّ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ‏ ‏قَالَ ‏ ‏قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏إِذَا قَامَ أَحَدُكُمْ مِنْ اللَّيْلِ ثُمَّ رَجَعَ إِلَى فِرَاشِهِ فَلْيَنْفُضْ فِرَاشَهُ بِدَاخِلَةِ ‏ ‏إِزَارِهِ ‏ ‏فَإِنَّهُ لَا يَدْرِي مَا خَلَفَهُ بَعْدُ ثُمَّ لِيَقُلْ بِاسْمِكَ اللَّهُمَّ وَضَعْتُ جَنْبِي وَبِاسْمِكَ أَرْفَعُهُ اللَّهُمَّ إِنْ أَمْسَكْتَ نَفْسِي فَاغْفِرْ لَهَا وَإِنْ أَرْسَلْتَهَا فَاحْفَظْهَا بِمَا تَحْفَظُ بِهِ الصَّالِحِينَ ‏

It was narrated from Abu Hurayra (رضي الله عنه) — via 'Abd al-Razzaq, from Ma'mar, from 'Ubayd Allah ibn 'Umar, from Sa'id ibn Abi Sa'id al-Maqburi — that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "When one of you gets up at night and then returns to his bed, let him dust off his bed with the inside of his lower garment, for he does not know what came after him on it. Then let him say: 'In Your name, O Allah, I lay down my side and in Your name I raise it. O Allah, if You take my soul, forgive it, and if You release it, protect it with that by which You protect Your righteous servants.'"

‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ ‏ ‏أَخْبَرَنَا ‏ ‏مَعْمَرٌ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ زِيَادٍ ‏ ‏سَمِعْتُ ‏ ‏أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ ‏ ‏يَقُولُ ‏ ‏قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏إِذَا انْتَعَلَ أَحَدُكُمْ فَلْيَبْدَأْ بِالْيُمْنَى وَإِذَا خَلَعَ فَلْيَبْدَأْ بِالْيُسْرَى وَلْيَخْلَعْهُمَا جَمِيعًا وَلْيَنْعَلْهُمَا جَمِيعًا ‏

It was narrated from Abu Hurayra (رضي الله عنه) — via 'Abd al-Razzaq, from Ma'mar, from Muhammad ibn Ziyad, who heard Abu Hurayra say — that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "When one of you puts on sandals, let him begin with the right foot, and when he takes them off, let him begin with the left. Let him put them both on together and take them both off together."

‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ ‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏مَعْمَرٌ ‏ ‏عَنِ ‏ ‏الزُّهْرِيِّ ‏ ‏عَنِ ‏ ‏ابْنِ الْمُسَيَّبِ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ‏ ‏قَالَ ‏ ‏قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏خَمْسٌ مِنْ الْفِطْرَةِ ‏ ‏الِاسْتِحْدَادُ ‏ ‏وَالْخِتَانُ ‏ ‏وَقَصُّ الشَّارِبِ وَنَتْفُ الْإِبْطِ وَتَقْلِيمُ الْأَظْفَارِ ‏

It was narrated from Abu Hurayra (رضي الله عنه) — via 'Abd al-Razzaq, from Ma'mar, from al-Zuhri, from Ibn al-Musayyab — that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "Five things are from the fitra: shaving the pubic hair, circumcision, trimming the mustache, plucking the armpit hair, and clipping the nails."

‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ ‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏مَعْمَرٌ ‏ ‏عَنِ ‏ ‏الزُّهْرِيِّ ‏ ‏عَنِ ‏ ‏ابْنِ الْمُسَيَّبِ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ‏ ‏قَالَ ‏ ‏قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏مَثَلُ الْمُؤْمِنِ كَمَثَلِ الزَّرْعِ لَا يَزَالُ الرِّيحُ ‏ ‏تُفِيئُهُ ‏ ‏وَلَا يَزَالُ الْمُؤْمِنُ يُصِيبُهُ بَلَاءٌ وَمَثَلُ الْمُنَافِقِ كَمَثَلِ شَجَرَةِ ‏ ‏الْأَرْزَةِ ‏ ‏لَا تَهْتَزُّ حَتَّى ‏ ‏تُسْتَحْصَدَ ‏

It was narrated from Abu Hurayra (رضي الله عنه) — via 'Abd al-Razzaq, from Ma'mar, from al-Zuhri, from Ibn al-Musayyab — that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "The parable of the believer is like that of a plant; the wind keeps bending it, and the believer continues to be afflicted with trials. The parable of the hypocrite is like the cedar tree; it does not shake until it is uprooted all at once."

‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ ‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏مَعْمَرٌ ‏ ‏عَنِ ‏ ‏الزُّهْرِيِّ ‏ ‏عَنِ ‏ ‏ابْنِ الْمُسَيَّبِ ‏ ‏أَنَّ ‏ ‏أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ ‏ ‏قَالَ ‏ ‏قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏إِذَا اسْتَيْقَظَ أَحَدُكُمْ فَلَا يُدْخِلْ يَدَهُ فِي إِنَائِهِ ‏ ‏أَوْ قَالَ فِي وَضُوئِهِ ‏ ‏حَتَّى يَغْسِلَهَا ثَلَاثَ مَرَّاتٍ فَإِنَّهُ لَا يَدْرِي أَيْنَ بَاتَتْ يَدُهُ ‏

It was narrated from Abu Hurayra (رضي الله عنه) — via 'Abd al-Razzaq, from Ma'mar, from al-Zuhri, from Ibn al-Musayyab — that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "When one of you wakes up, let him not put his hand into his vessel" — or he said, "into his wudu water" — "until he has washed it three times, for he does not know where his hand spent the night."

‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ ‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏مَعْمَرٌ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ زِيَادٍ ‏ ‏قَالَ ‏ ‏رَأَيْتُ ‏ ‏أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ ‏ ‏مَرَّ بِقَوْمٍ يَتَوَضَّئُونَ مِنْ ‏ ‏مَطْهَرَةٍ ‏ ‏فَقَالَ أَحْسِنُوا الْوُضُوءَ يَرْحَمْكُمْ اللَّهُ أَلَمْ تَسْمَعُوا مَا قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏وَيْلٌ ‏ ‏لِلْأَعْقَابِ ‏ ‏مِنْ النَّارِ ‏

It was narrated from Muhammad ibn Ziyad — via 'Abd al-Razzaq, from Ma'mar — who said: "I saw Abu Hurayra (رضي الله عنه) pass by some people performing wudu from a basin. He said: 'Perform your wudu well, may Allah have mercy on you. Did you not hear what the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said? Woe to the heels from the Fire!'"

‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ ‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏مَعْمَرٌ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏يَحْيَى بْنِ أَبِي كَثِيرٍ ‏ ‏أُرَاهُ قَالَ عَنْ ‏ ‏ضَمْضَمٍ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ‏ ‏قَالَ ‏ ‏أَمَرَنَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏أَنْ نَقْتُلَ الْأَسْوَدَيْنِ فِي الصَّلَاةِ الْعَقْرَبَ وَالْحَيَّةَ ‏ ‏وَقَالَ ‏ ‏عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ ‏ ‏هَكَذَا حَدَّثَنَا مَا لَا أُحْصِي ‏

It was narrated from Abu Hurayra (رضي الله عنه) — via 'Abd al-Razzaq, from Ma'mar, from Yahya ibn Abi Kathir, who he thought said from Damdam — that he said: "the Messenger of Allah ﷺ commanded us to kill the two black things during prayer: the scorpion and the snake." 'Abd al-Razzaq said: "He narrated it to us like this countless times."

‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ ‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏مَعْمَرٌ ‏ ‏وَالثَّوْرِيُّ ‏ ‏عَنِ ‏ ‏الْأَعْمَشِ ‏ ‏عَنِ ‏ ‏أَبِي صَالِحٍ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ‏ ‏قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏الْإِمَامُ ضَامِنٌ وَالْمُؤَذِّنُ أَمِينٌ اللَّهُمَّ أَرْشِدْ الْأَئِمَّةَ وَاغْفِرْ لِلْمُؤَذِّنِينَ ‏

It was narrated from Abu Hurayra (رضي الله عنه) — via 'Abd al-Razzaq, from Ma'mar and al-Thawri, from al-A'mash, from Abu Salih — that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "The imam is a guarantor and the mu'adhdhin is entrusted. O Allah, guide the imams and forgive the mu'adhdhins."

‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ ‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏مَعْمَرٌ ‏ ‏عَنِ ‏ ‏الزُّهْرِيِّ ‏ ‏قَالَ سَمِعْتُ ‏ ‏ابْنَ أُكَيْمَةَ ‏ ‏يُحَدِّثُ عَنْ ‏ ‏أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ‏ ‏أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏صَلَّى صَلَاةً جَهَرَ فِيهَا بِالْقِرَاءَةِ ثُمَّ أَقْبَلَ عَلَى النَّاسِ بَعْدَمَا سَلَّمَ فَقَالَ هَلْ قَرَأَ مِنْكُمْ أَحَدٌ مَعِي ‏ ‏آنِفًا ‏ ‏قَالُوا نَعَمْ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ قَالَ إِنِّي أَقُولُ مَا لِي أُنَازَعُ الْقُرْآنَ فَانْتَهَى النَّاسُ عَنْ الْقِرَاءَةِ مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏فِيمَا يَجْهَرُ بِهِ مِنْ الْقِرَاءَةِ حِينَ سَمِعُوا ذَلِكَ مِنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏

It was narrated from Abu Hurayra (رضي الله عنه) — via 'Abd al-Razzaq, from Ma'mar, from al-Zuhri, who said: I heard Ibn Ukayma narrate — that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ prayed a prayer in which he recited aloud. Then he turned to the people after giving salam and said: "Did any of you recite with me just now?" They said: "Yes, O Messenger of Allah." He said: "I was wondering why I was being contested in my recitation of the Quran." So the people stopped reciting with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ in prayers where he recited aloud, when they heard that from him.

‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ ‏ ‏أَخْبَرَنَا ‏ ‏مَعْمَرٌ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏أَيُّوبَ ‏ ‏عَنِ ‏ ‏ابْنِ سِيرِينَ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ‏ ‏قَالَ ‏ ‏صَلَّى رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏الظُّهْرَ ‏ ‏أَوْ الْعَصْرَ ‏ ‏فَسَلَّمَ فِي الرَّكْعَتَيْنِ ثُمَّ انْصَرَفَ فَخَرَجَ سَرَعَانُ النَّاسِ فَقَالُوا خُفِّفَتْ الصَّلَاةُ فَقَالَ ‏ ‏ذُو الشِّمَالَيْنِ ‏ ‏أَخُفِّفَتْ الصَّلَاةُ أَمْ نَسِيتَ فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏مَا يَقُولُ ‏ ‏ذُو الْيَدَيْنِ ‏ ‏قَالُوا صَدَقَ ‏ ‏فَصَلَّى بِهِمْ الرَّكْعَتَيْنِ اللَّتَيْنِ تَرَكَ ثُمَّ سَجَدَ سَجْدَتَيْنِ وَهُوَ جَالِسٌ بَعْدَ مَا سَلَّمَ ‏

It was narrated from Abu Hurayra (رضي الله عنه) — via 'Abd al-Razzaq, from Ma'mar, from Ayyub, from Ibn Sirin — that he said: "the Messenger of Allah ﷺ prayed Dhuhr — or 'Asr — and gave salam after two rak'as. Then he left, and the hasty ones among the people went out saying: 'The prayer has been shortened!' Dhu al-Shimalayn said: 'Has the prayer been shortened, or did you forget?' the Prophet ﷺ said: 'What is Dhu al-Yadayn saying?' They said: 'He is right.' So he prayed with them the two rak'as he had omitted, then performed two prostrations while sitting after the salam."

‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ خَالِدٍ ‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏رَبَاحٌ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏مَعْمَرٍ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏سُهَيْلِ بْنِ أَبِي صَالِحٍ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏أَبِيهِ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ‏ ‏عَنْ النَّبِيِّ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏قَالَ ‏ ‏لَا تَجْعَلُوا بُيُوتَكُمْ مَقَابِرَ فَإِنَّ الشَّيْطَانَ يَفِرُّ مِنْ الْبَيْتِ الَّذِي يُقْرَأُ فِيهِ سُورَةُ ‏ ‏الْبَقَرَةِ ‏

It was narrated from Abu Hurayra (رضي الله عنه) — via Ibrahim ibn Khalid, from Rabah, from Ma'mar, from Suhayl ibn Abi Salih, from his father — that the Prophet ﷺ said: "Do not make your houses into graveyards, for the Shaytan flees from the house in which Surat al-Baqara is recited."

‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ ‏ ‏أَخْبَرَنَا ‏ ‏مَعْمَرٌ ‏ ‏وَعَبْدُ الْأَعْلَى ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏مَعْمَرٍ ‏ ‏عَنِ ‏ ‏الزُّهْرِيِّ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏أَبِي سَلَمَةَ ‏ ‏عَنِ ‏ ‏أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ‏ ‏قَالَ ‏ ‏قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏يَأْتِي أَحَدَكُمْ الشَّيْطَانُ فَيَلْبِسُ عَلَيْهِ فِي صَلَاتِهِ فَلَا يَدْرِي أَزَادَ أَمْ نَقَصَ فَإِذَا وَجَدَ أَحَدُكُمْ ذَلِكَ فَلْيَسْجُدْ سَجْدَتَيْنِ وَهُوَ جَالِسٌ ‏

It was narrated from Abu Hurayra (رضي الله عنه) — via 'Abd al-Razzaq and 'Abd al-A'la, from Ma'mar, from al-Zuhri, from Abu Salama — that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "The Shaytan comes to one of you and confuses him in his prayer so that he does not know whether he has added or omitted. If one of you experiences that, let him perform two prostrations while sitting."
