حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ حَدَّثَنَا مَعْمَرٌ عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ عَنِ ابْنِ الْمُسَيَّ

بِ وَأَبِي سَلَمَةَ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ قَالَ نَعَى رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ النَّجَاشِيَّ لِأَصْحَابِهِ وَهُوَ بِالْمَدِينَةِ فَصَفُّوا خَلْفَهُ وَصَلَّى عَلَيْهِ وَكَبَّرَ أَرْبَعًا

English Translation

It was narrated from Abu Hurayra (رضي الله عنه) — via 'Abd al-Razzaq, from Ma'mar, from al-Zuhri, from Ibn al-Musayyab and Abu Salama ibn 'Abd al-Rahman — that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ announced the death of al-Najashi [the Negus of Abyssinia] to his companions while he was in Madina. They lined up behind him, and he prayed the funeral prayer over him and said four takbirs.
