English Translation

Abd al-Rahman narrated to us, Hammad ibn Salamah narrated to us, from Muhammad ibn Ziyad who said: I heard Abu Hurayrah (رضي الله عنه) say: When the Prophet ﷺ was brought food that was not from his own, he would ask about it. If he was told it was a gift, he ate. If he was told it was charity, he said: 'Eat' — to his Companions — and he would not eat it himself.
