حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عَامِرٍ حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ أَبِي ذِئْبٍ عَنِ الْحَارِثِ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ ثَوْبَانَ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَرَأَ النَّجْمَ فَسَجَدَ وَسَجَدَ النَّاسُ مَعَهُ إِلَّا رَجُلَيْنِ أَرَادَا الشُّهْرَةَ
English Translation
Abu 'Amir narrated to us, Ibn Abi Dhi'b narrated to us, from al-Harith, from Muhammad ibn Abd al-Rahman ibn Thawban, from Abu Hurayrah (رضي الله عنه), that the Prophet ﷺ recited {al-Najm} and prostrated, and those who were with him prostrated except for two men who sought prominence — meaning they wanted to be seen as different.
