Hadith #334
Arabic Text
وَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ الْمَلَائِكَةُ يَتَعَاقَبُونَ فِيكُمْ مَلَائِكَةٌ بِاللَّيْلِ وَمَلَائِكَةٌ بِالنَّهَارِ وَقَالَ يَجْتَمِعُونَ فِي صَلَاةِ الْفَجْرِ وَصَلَاةِ الْعَصْرِ ثُمَّ يَعْرُجُ إِلَيْهِ الَّذِينَ بَاتُوا فِيكُمْ فَيَسْأَلُهُمْ وَهُوَ أَعْلَمُ كَيْفَ تَرَكْتُمْ عِبَادِي فَقَالُوا تَرَكْنَاهُمْ وَهُمْ يُصَلُّونَ وَأَتَيْنَاهُمْ وَهُمْ يُصَلُّونَ
English Translation
And the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'The angels take turns among you — angels of the night and angels of the day. They gather at the Fajr and 'Asr prayers.' He said: 'Then those who spent the night among you ascend, and their Lord asks them — though He knows best about them: How did you leave My servants? They say: We left them while they were praying and we came to them while they were praying.'
