Hadith #379
Arabic Text
وَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ تَحَاجَّتْ الْجَنَّةُ وَالنَّارُ فَقَالَتْ النَّارُ أُوثِرْتُ بِالْمُتَكَبِّرِينَ وَالْمُتَجَبِّرِينَ وَقَالَتْ الْجَنَّةُ فَمَا لِي لَا يَدْخُلُنِي إِلَّا ضُعَفَاءُ النَّاسِ سَفَلَتُهُمْ وَغِرَّتُهُمْ فَقَالَ اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ لِلْجَنَّةِ إِنَّمَا أَنْتِ رَحْمَةٌ أَرْحَمُ بِكِ مَنْ أَشَاءُ مِنْ عِبَادِي وَقَالَ لِلنَّارِ إِنَّمَا أَنْتِ عَذَابِي أُعَذِّبُ بِكِ مَنْ أَشَاءُ مِنْ عِبَادِي وَلِكُلِّ وَاحِدٍ مِنْكُمَا مِلْؤُهَا فَأَمَّا النَّارُ فَلَا تَمْتَلِئُ حَتَّى يَضَعَ اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ رِجْلَهُ فَتَقُولُ قَطْ قَطْ قَطْ أَيْ حَسْبِي فَهُنَالِكَ تَمْتَلِئُ وَيُزْوَى بَعْضُهَا إِلَى بَعْضٍ وَلَا يَظْلِمُ اللَّهُ مِنْ خَلْقِهِ أَحَدًا وَأَمَّا الْجَنَّةُ فَإِنَّ اللَّهَ يُنْشِئُ لَهَا خَلْقًا
English Translation
the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'Paradise and Hellfire argued with one another. The Fire said: I have been favored with the arrogant and the tyrants. Paradise said: What is the matter with me that only the weak, the humble, and the lowly enter me? Allah, Blessed and Most High, said to Paradise: You are My mercy; I show mercy through you to whomever I will. And He said to the Fire: You are My punishment; I punish through you whomever I will. Each of you shall be filled.'
