Hadith #388
Arabic Text
وَبِإِسْنَادِهِ قَالَ وَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ كَانَتْ بَنُو إِسْرَائِيلَ يَغْتَسِلُونَ عُرَاةً يَنْظُرُ بَعْضُهُمْ إِلَى سَوْأَةِ بَعْضٍ وَكَانَ مُوسَى عَلَيْهِ السَّلَام يَغْتَسِلُ وَحْدَهُ فَقَالُوا وَاللَّهِ مَا يَمْنَعُ مُوسَى أَنْ يَغْتَسِلَ مَعَنَا إِلَّا أَنَّهُ آدَرُ قَالَ فَذَهَبَ مَرَّةً يَغْتَسِلُ فَوَضَعَ ثَوْبَهُ عَلَى حَجَرٍ فَفَرَّ الْحَجَرُ بِثَوْبِ مُوسَى قَالَ فَجَمَحَ مُوسَى يَأْمُرُهُ يَقُولُ ثَوْبِي حَجَرُ ثَوْبِي حَجَرُ حَتَّى نَظَرَتْ بَنُو إِسْرَائِيلَ إِلَى سَوْأَةِ مُوسَى وَقَالُوا وَاللَّهِ مَا بِمُوسَى مِنْ بَأْسٍ فَقَامَ الْحَجَرُ بَعْدُ حَتَّى نَظَرَ إِلَيْهِ فَأَخَذَ ثَوْبَهُ وَطَفِقَ بِالْحَجَرِ ضَرْبًا فَقَالَ أَبُو هُرَيْرَةَ وَاللَّهِ إِنَّ بِالْحَجَرِ نَدْبًا سِتَّةً أَوْ سَبْعَةً ضَرْبُ مُوسَى بِالْحَجَرِ
English Translation
the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'The Children of Israel used to bathe naked, looking at one another's private parts. But Musa عليه السلام used to bathe alone. They said: By Allah, nothing prevents Musa from bathing with us except that he has a hernia. One day he went to bathe and placed his garment on a stone, and the stone fled with his garment. Musa chased after it saying: My garment, O stone! My garment, O stone! Until the Children of Israel saw him and said: By Allah, there is nothing wrong with Musa. He took his garment and began striking the stone.'
