English Translation

the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'The truly poor person is not the one who goes around begging from people and is turned away with a morsel or two and a date or two. Rather, the truly poor person is the one who does not have enough to make him self-sufficient, yet his condition is not known so that charity might be given to him, and he does not stand up to beg from people.'
