Arabic Text
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو النَّضْرِ حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ أَنَّهُ كَانَ يَقُولُ كَيْفَ أَنْتُمْ إِذَا لَمْ تَجْتَبُوا دِينَارًا وَلَا دِرْهَمًا فَقِيلَ لَهُ وَهَلْ تَرَى ذَلِكَ
كَائِنًا يَا أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ فَقَالَ وَالَّذِي نَفْسُ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ بِيَدِهِ عَنْ قَوْلِ الصَّادِقِ الْمَصْدُوقِ قَالُوا وَعَمَّ ذَاكَ قَالَ تُنْتَهَكُ ذِمَّةُ اللَّهِ وَذِمَّةُ رَسُولِهِ فَيَشُدُّ اللَّهُ قُلُوبَ أَهْلِ الذِّمَّةِ فَيَمْنَعُونَ مَا بِأَيْدِيهِمْ وَالَّذِي نَفْسُ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ بِيَدِهِ لَيَكُونَنَّ مَرَّتَيْنِ

English Translation
Abu Hurayrah رضي الله عنه used to say: 'How will you be when you cannot collect a dinar or a dirham?' They said: 'How do you see that happening, O Abu Hurayrah?' He said: 'By the One in Whose Hand is Abu Hurayrah's soul, it is the word of the truthful and believed one.' They said: 'What will cause that?' He said: 'The covenants of Allah and His Messenger will be violated, and Allah, Mighty and Majestic, will tighten the hearts of the dhimmis so that they will withhold what is in their hands.'
