Hadith #19

حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو النَّضْرِ حَدَّثَنَا الْمُبَارَكُ عَنِ الْحَسَنِ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ أَلَا مِنْ رَجُلٍ يَأْخُذُ بِمَا فَرَضَ اللَّهُ وَرَسُولُهُ كَلِمَةً أَوْ كَلِمَتَيْنِ أَوْ ثَلَاثًا أَوْ أَرْبَعًا أَوْ خَمْسًا فَيَجْعَلُهُنَّ فِي طَر
َفِ رِدَائِهِ فَيَتَعَلَّمُهُنَّ وَيُعَلِّمُهُنَّ قَالَ أَبُو هُرَيْرَةَ فَقُلْتُ أَنَا يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ قَالَ فَابْسُطْ ثَوْبَكَ قَالَ فَبَسَطْتُ ثَوْبِي فَحَدَّثَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ثُمَّ قَالَ ضُمَّ إِلَيْكَ فَضَمَمْتُ ثَوْبِي إِلَى صَدْرِي فَإِنِّي لَأَرْجُو أَنْ لَا أَكُونَ نَسِيتُ حَدِيثًا سَمِعْتُهُ مِنْهُ بَعْدُ

English Translation
Abu Hurayrah رضي الله عنه said: I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say: 'Indeed the first thing that people will be asked about on the Day of Resurrection from their good deeds is the prayer. Our Lord, Mighty and Majestic, will say to His angels — and He knows best: Look at the prayer of My servant — did he complete it or fall short? If it is complete, it will be written as complete. If he fell short in anything, He will say: Look and see if My servant has any voluntary prayers. If he has voluntary prayers, He will say: Complete My servant's obligatory prayers from his voluntary ones. Then the rest of his deeds will be taken in the same manner.'
