English Translation

Qutaybah narrated to us, Bakr ibn Mudar narrated to us, from 'Umarah ibn Ghaziyyah, from Abu Salih, from Abu Hurayrah (رضي الله عنه) that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'While a man was walking on a road, he became very thirsty. He found a well and went down into it and drank. Then he came out and found a dog panting and eating moist earth from thirst. The man said: This dog is suffering the same thirst I suffered. He went down into the well, filled his shoe with water, held it in his mouth and climbed up, and gave the dog water. Allah appreciated his action and forgave him.' They said: 'O Messenger of Allah, do we get reward for animals?' He said: 'In every living creature there is reward.'
