Sa'id ibn Mansur and Qutaybah narrated to us, they said: Ya'qub ibn 'Abd al-Rahman narrated to us, from Abu Hazim, from Abu Salih, from Abu Hurayrah (رضي الله عنه) that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'When one of you leads the people in prayer, let him shorten it, for among them is the sick, the weak, and the elderly. And when one of you prays alone, let him lengthen it as much as he wishes.'
