حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ زَيْدٍ أَخْبَرَنَا ابْنُ لَهِيعَةَ عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ شُعَيْبٍ عَنْ أَ
بِيهِ عَنْ جَدِّهِ عَنْ عُمَرَ بْنِ الْخَطَّابِ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ يَرِثُ الْوَلَاءَ مَنْ وَرِثَ الْمَالَ مِنْ وَالِدٍ أَوْ وَلَدٍ

English Translation
Abu Unma mah bin Sahl (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that ‘Umar wrote to AbuʼUbaidah bin al-Jarrah : To whom should I pay his diyah? ‘Umar wrote back telling him that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to say: “Allah and His Messenger are the mawla (guardian) of the one who has no mawla, and the maternal uncle is the heir of the one who has no heir.”
