حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو سَعِيدٍ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْعَزِيزِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ حَدَّثَنَا صَالِحُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ زَائِدَةَ عَنْ سَالِمِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ أَنَّهُ كَانَ مَعَ مَسْلَمَةَ بْنِ عَبْدِ الْمَلِكِ فِي أَرْضِ الرُّومِ فَوُجِدَ فِي مَتَاعِ رَجُلٍ غُلُولٌ فَسَأَلَ سَالِمَ بْنَ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ فَقَالَ حَدَّثَنِي عَبْدُ اللَّهِ عَنْ عُمَرَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْه
ُ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ مَنْ وَجَدْتُمْ فِي مَتَاعِهِ غُلُولًا فَأَحْرِقُوهُ قَالَ وَأَحْسَبُهُ قَالَ وَاضْرِبُوهُ قَالَ فَأَخْرَجَ مَتَاعَهُ فِي السُّوقِ قَالَ فَوَجَدَ فِيهِ مُصْحَفًا فَسَأَلَ سَالِمًا فَقَالَ بِعْهُ وَتَصَدَّقْ بِثَمَنِهِ

English Translation
It was narrated from Salim bin 'Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) that he was with Maslamah bin 'Abdul-Malik in the land of the Byzantines, and they found some stolen booty with a man's goods. He asked Salim bin ‘Abdullah and he said: `Abdullah bin 'Umar toid me from ‘Umar that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: “If you find stolen booty with a man, then burn it and I think he said: and beat him.” So he took his property out to the market and found a Mushaf among his goods. He asked Salim, who said: Sell it, and gave its price in charity,
