English Translation

Abu Ahmad narrated to us, he said Sufyan narrated to us, from al-Hajjaj ibn Furafiṣah, from a man, from Abu Salamah, from Abu Hurayrah (رضي الله عنه) who said: the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'Be moderate and seek closeness [to Allah], and know that none of you will be saved by his deeds.' They said: 'Not even you, O Messenger of Allah?' He said: 'Not even me, unless Allah envelops me with mercy from Him and grace.'
